Ketzer Posted February 11, 2009 #28 Share Posted February 11, 2009 I assume that's why they're called legends. Some urban legends sounds more plausible and some are even true. Watch mythbusters or go on snopes.com

Barnacle Battlefront Posted February 12, 2009 #30 Share Posted February 12, 2009 I assume that's why they're called legends. As Almighty89 said, there are quite a few legends that sound plausible, or turn out to be true. Such as Nazis creating Fanta. Not true, but you can see how it came about. BUt some legends just leave me thinkg 'WTF"
Mrs V Posted February 12, 2009 #31 Share Posted February 12, 2009 I love all of the myths from Dartmoor but there's three that I've never been able to forget; Hairy hands Golden Ghost The Devil and his hounds from Two Bridges LOL! Hairy hands??? Is that a reference to spanking the monkey? If it is, I always remember being told that too much of it would make one go blind... If it is, I always remember being told that too much of it would make one go blind... lol afraid not. There's been a legend since around 1910 where drivers and cyclists have reported suffering unusual accidents between Postbridge and Two Bridges. In many cases, the victims reported that their vehicle had jolted or swerved violently and steered off the side of the road, as if something had taken hold of the wheels and wrenched it out of their control. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hairy_hands

Joshkbai Posted August 22, 2010 #49 Share Posted August 22, 2010 The slender man urban legend scared the hell out of me. I had trouble sleeping after I heard of that one, and even though it's a confirmed hoax it's still my favorite one.
Danr Posted August 25, 2010 #50 Share Posted August 25, 2010 That one where the babysitter drops some acid, and decided to cook a turkey, which turns out to be the kid she was watching. How totally stupid and helarious <img src="http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/original.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="original.gif" /> In the version I've heard it was PCP. Anyway my favorite is the story of rawhead and bloody bones.
