wcturnersr Posted March 9, 2004 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2004 Why didn't NASA mount microphones on the rovers? Don't you think it would be nice to experience another sense besides visual on Mars?
thebarman Posted March 9, 2004 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2004 Mars doesn't have much of an atmosphere and without air you can't have sound, hence the quote "In space, no one can hear you scream" This also means that every time on Star Wars when you see a spaceship explode that you shouldn't hear it, of course this would make the film bloody boring. I wouldn't enjoy it if the Death Star exploded in complete silence
wcturnersr Posted March 9, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted March 9, 2004 I guess the question is, how dense is the atmosphere? Is it enough for it to carry sound waves.
Celumnaz Posted March 9, 2004 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2004 wonder if they have any seismic (sp?), umm, ground vibration sensing equipment... and if it's picking anything up. Has anybody read if they do?
