'Lost towns' discovered in Amazon

news icon rSubmitted by Waspie Dwarf: The remote amazon river basin was once home to densely populated towns and villages, Science journal reports. This part of the Amazon, once thought to be virgin forest, has in fact been touched by extensive human activity.

Researchers found traces of a grid-like pattern of settlements connected by road networks and arranged around large central plazas.

Back in BC times, of what I know, there were many villages and towns because of the nearest water source. They would go into the forest with spears and or their weapons, get their foods and all then back to the town/ villages. Another thing is, they drank from the river and also bathed in it.
