clockworkgirl21 Posted September 1, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 1, 2008 Please, no gory or violent photos. The last thread was screwed up because of it. This is called "The Crying Boy." The story is this painting survived two house fires. In both fires, it was the only thing to survive. This is "The Hands Resist Him." It's story is the boy will sometimes move around, and even leave the painting.
bishka Posted September 1, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 1, 2008 my grandma had a painting of the crying boy. When all the bad press came out in the newspapers she burnt it in the back garden. It burnt fine out there so I don't really think there was any substance to the rumours of house fires. I think it was a coincidence because it was quite a popular painting at the time. 1.618 Posted September 1, 2008 #9 Share Posted September 1, 2008 is wax there involved or something else? It's a natural process. I forget what it's called though.
madscience Posted September 1, 2008 #10 Share Posted September 1, 2008 is wax there involved or something else? As far as I know it's not. This is from what I understand the way she is naturally. Thats what makes it so weird. She has not decayed. Now these pictures below are of Saint Pius and they involve a Porcelain likeness as skin. The Next Picture is taken from the side of the encasing which shows the Skull under the Porcelain mask.

Of course I cant confirm that but from what I understand she has not been altered. Her body is considered a miracle and a relic of the Roman Catholic Church. I myself am a Protestant, so Im not very familiar with Catholic relics etc... I do believe that God has the Power to keep her body from decaying so for me at least it's not a big leap of faith to believe she hasn't been touched. Anyway glad you enjoyed the pictures, there's a lot of crazy weird stuff out there. I just added these to the thread in case some people had never heard of them. I look forward to seeing others pictures and learning about new stuff myself.

iSeeDeadPpl! Posted September 1, 2008 #16 Share Posted September 1, 2008 (edited) this was due to her having an illness before death....atleast according to doctors. They took it out to bathe it and such before putting it into the glasss coffin, so doctors got to have a good look at the body Edited September 1, 2008 by iSeeDeadPpl! madscience Posted September 1, 2008 #21 Share Posted September 1, 2008 (edited) So is it too much to start a new thread for your undecayed saint discussion? Threadjacking is a crime punishable by a good whacking. Did your corn flakes have yellow in them this morning or what ? Kind of silly for people to posts pictures and then have you complain if someone wants to discuss one of the pictures. Especially since it's not even your thread. No-ones thread jacking, the discussion is on the subject matter of the thread. Im sure you wouldn't feel that way if someone wanted to discuss Munch's "Scream" I dont know if you noticed but there is also discussion on the Crying boy painting and as a matter of fact there's also a comment on your picture as well. So what exactly is your problem with people having discussion on the pics that are posted here ? Edited September 1, 2008 by madscience

Lilix_Vixen Posted September 1, 2008 #24 Share Posted September 1, 2008 Rosalia Lombardo was an Italian child born in 1918 in Palermo, Sicily. She died on the 6th of December 1920. It is thought that she died from a bronchial infection. She was one of the last corpses to be admitted to the Capuchin catacombs of Palermo in Sicily. Due to a preservation process by Dr. Alfredo Salafia, the child appears as if she were only sleeping, hence receiving the name "Sleeping Beauty" . Rosalia Lombardo's body is kept in a small chapel at the end of the catacomb's tour and is encased in a glass covered coffin, placed on a marble pedestal.
