No way, it'll only delay the inevitable, and have $700 billion more in our debt.

I think thats how most people feel but in the words of Dick Cheney on public opinion...."SO?"

I voted no bailout absolutly not. In fact it would be a good thing for our economy to hit the tank and level the playing field imho. Its like this, playing the stock market is like playing poker, and we have some bad poker players in charge who've been cheating, stealing and making bad bets, let them sink. They got themselves into this mess and they can lose there shirts and I simply couldnt care less but if I'm burdened with this I most certainly will find a way to quit paying taxes,I'll get mine back one way or another. Nobodys gonna bail me out if I make these kind of decisions in my financial life and I sure as heck dont want to bail out these rats,I've got other ideas for these people, its called justice, and its coming sooner or later.I went up town today twice looking for our state senator and if this bailout goes through he's gonna hate to see me coming for the rest of his days I'm gonna burn his ears off when I do see him. If I run my houshold like they've been running theres for years I'd be sleeping under a bridge. My creditors sure dont mind calling me when the notes due and I aint paying theirs. Here is one resource available that I use from time to time no I'm not saying send them money click on the home page to see what they're about but you can do something like this to make your voice heard.

Or you could just pick up your phone and vent a little, call these folks and let of some steam, it feels good and is good for you.

Well I read that during the Savings and Loans crisis in the 80s when the US bought a whole heap of bad debt, they ultimately turned a profit on it

similar would be likely to happen here because the government would be purchasing actual assets that are currently undervalued due to a crazy market.

or so I've been told.

That's the theory.

Of course there's no telling when the markets will turn around and no guarantee this bad debt will infact appreciate when it does. It's a very risky scenario. It may never play out.

But assuming it does go as presented, how about putting in this bill that all the profits the gov realize from the eventual sale of these debts goes to shoring up Social Security or Medicare or paying down the debt? Wanna take bets on that! ;)

and an extra 700billion in debt won't effect everyone?

It'll just delay the inevitable and most likely make it alot worst then had it been played out in the free market.

If this bailout gets approved then the USA should change it's name to USSR (the United States of Socialist Republics)

Instead of bailing out the large companies who created this mess, perhaps we could bail out the people losing their ****ing homes.

No, we can't have socialized medicine! But we can have corporate socialism.

You mean like if we were to have income redistribution?

It's surprisingly communist for such a capitalist society. I wonder if it will help everyone in the end.....or only the corporates. In my (very financially illiterate) opinion it seems to be delaying the inevitable.

Of course not honey, not if it made any sence it wont. I tried to call McCain and leave a message, his mailbox was full, imagine that. The grassroot true patriotic Americans are on fire, they are fighting mad and taking a stand, just look at the results of this poll. If this thing goes through they have literally burned our beloved constitution before our very eyes. I have a solution that will work if they do, everybody quit working for a month, that'll sink they're sorry butts weather they like it or not. I'm gonna keep calling and I'm voting third party if it passes and I would suggest that every true American does the same, lets send Naders Raiders to DC.The power here belongs to the people, as stated by the constitution, and its high time they learned that.

These are dark times. While you were sleeping the cockroaches were busy about their work, rummaging through the US Constitution, and putting the finishing touches on a scheme to assert absolute power over the nation's financial markets and the country's economic future. Industry representative Henry Paulson has submitted legislation to congress that will finally end the pretense that Bush controls anything more than reading the lines from a 4' by 6' teleprompter situated just inches from his lifeless pupils. Paulson is in charge now, and the coronation is set for sometime early next week. He rose to power in a stealthily-executed Bankster's Coup in which he, and his coterie of dodgy friends, declared martial law on the US economy while elevating himself to supreme leader.

i voted No, because you (Americans) deserve better, This credit crisis will affect your lives for years to come and the people who caused this problem are getting away scot free, they should be jailed, a small minority of rich bankers/company directors who let greed get the better of them have affected the lives of millions and then the greedy ba$tards want the American public to bail them out,.........so they can keep getting richer.

we need a new system,

I voted yes, not because I like the "solution", but because I recognize that there is no other way to address the problem without throwing the US, and the world, into a world-wide financial meltdown. It's really a "lesser-of-the-two evils" situation.

I have a question for those who voted yes on this.

I lost my home and Land due to circumstances beyond my controle, Iam not blaming any one for my loss.

Now you seem to think I should Be responsible for paying the salery of the ones who already got my house?

Should I bring my own vaseline, Or dop they have The ecomomy sise, For screwing, Those of us who are already down.

This is criminal and they are going to make it legal. These clowns should Be Jailed for Kicking a cripple.

Iam soo p***ed.

I bet those who vote yes Have stocks , or will benifit directly from this Travesty of Justice , what a scam.

Obama should grow a spine and stand up to these thugs, Then he would get my vote..

Me thinks the Big money Just Bought him. Bunch Of Domestic Terrorists.

How do you know what would happen, maybe it would just level the playing field instead of rewarding criminal behavior.

Profiting the rich, and Killing the poor. This trickle down effect does not work when it;'s only the rich getting richer. What makes you so sure tyhe money is gonna go back in to the economy?

They gave each other million dollar raises , Last time and is why we are in this mess to begin with, What makes you so sure this money will stay in this country?

They are milking the public and Poor for all they have , bleeding them dry. Disgusting

I'm not sure what you mean by "leveling the playing field". What I can tell you is that foreign investors will almost certainly begin a large-scale pull out their investments in the U.S., thus depriving us of vital capital at a time we need it most. This situation makes Obama's proposal to increase the capital gains tax almost suicidal, as it would only provide further incentive for people to pull their money out of US investments.

I'm sorry for the loss of your property, that is most unfortunate. But the truth of the matter is that if the federal government does nothing and allows the US economy to collapse, far more people will suffer than have already suffered, and for a long time. That is a situation we can avoid, a situation we must avoid. I totally agree with you on the corporate CEOs. Any CEO of a company that needs to be bailed out by the US taxpayers should be precluded from receiving any type of golden parachute whatsoever. A CEO receiving $150 million for overseeing the collapse of a corporation requiring federal intervention is criminal in my mind. However, if the federal government does nothing, those CEOs will certainly keep those golden parachutes.

against Corporate Socialism, which is somewhat of income distribution in itself as the people in the future would have to pay higher taxes to pay for the 7 billion.

Iam against the american taxpayer paying for any of this.

Are you suggesting that they are gonna bail them self out, through some other subsidy?

Boy wouldent that be a Miracle.

Ive heard we are going to get dividend checks because we , ahem or our Government would own the defunct companies . I want to sell my shares now, and Cut my losses, Just send me the check and I. wiill pay it back in instalments.

Better yet, Just let them Fail and let the chips fall where they may, The same way My house was taken.

They should have enough money saved up that they dont need a last payday, at My expense before the world economy takes a dump, from their giving away million dollar Raises.

The need to go to Jail, not get paid.

You know I really was thinking about this today and my life isn't being affected one whit by the financial crisis. Its all the greedy people out there who are going to suffer. I say let the chips fall where they may, there are plenty of resposnsible people that can figure out a way to clean up this mess. I say the credit gravy train is now over and people need to just deal with eating smaller meals and having less. Suck it up and deal with it. The party is over.<_<
