Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating collective ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and the creation of an egalitarian society. Modern socialism originated in the late nineteenth-century working class political movement. Karl Marx posited that socialism would be achieved via class struggle and a proletarian revolution which represents the transitional stage between capitalism and communism.

CENTRALIZATION. Comes hand in hand with socialism, that is why no matter how you try it with different design it will fail.

Centralization is NOT socialism, every Right Wing Anti Socialist dictatorship centralizes.

Not to mention the Bush admin's expansion of executive powers, centralizing power in one branch of our government, unchecked and unbalanced.

Trickle down economics works depending who you are but I compare it to Merit Raises in corporations. We all know how fair that system is.

Bad example.

I totally agree business merit raise aren't always fair. Been there, done that. But that's because someone makes the decision for you.

In the wider economic world you make the decisions for your own success or not. There is no guarantee but if you look at the economy and people as a whole those who work harder, smarter and more creatively get more than the lazy, dim witted and apathetic.

Can't have your socialist state without centralizing.

Dictatorship? You mean the present congress does not vote on any bill from Bush?

As you can see, when you can't have the policy that you want, you consider it a dictatorship. It's a display of a child being sour grapes.

Execituve powers were there for any President, the present democratis congress can repeal it anytime.

Obama will have the same executive powers if he wins, does that make him then a sudden dictator or unbalanced and unchecked?

And what is more "collective ownership" than stock ownership?

Think about it: You and I can own a piece of any (publicly traded) company in the country, and in many cases the world! We each have the same rights to attend sharehold meetings, to speak if so desired, to receive financial reports, to vote and recieve any dividends (in proportion to how much we individually own).

What is more collectived - and Democratic! - than that?!

Karl Marx ideology already has failed. You are simply a Hugo Chavez or Fidel Castro kind of guy.

LOL!

But I don't think Marx saw the inherent democracy that comes from collective ownership. And I'm sure he didn't imagine the personal striving for greater achievement that ownership inherently breeds (capitalism).
