im sorry to interrupt , im portuguese so im not inside as some of you on this business , but what is the problem with him being another nationality ? the image we get here in europe is that obama is a good man and the needed one for president and the only thing it gets through of mccain is the mockery on sarah palin and how mccain is suppose to be the next bush and that nobody wants

...then again, if I remember correctly there's some stipulation that a president must be borin in the US proper....anyone?

The problem is that the last thing the Founding Fathers and I would think every American here is that someone born abroad would be that that person did not have America’s best interest at heart when making political decisions. They may actually act to hurt America in favor of other loyalties to that politician.

Would you want someone from Lebanon or Germany being the President and Prime Ministers of your country?

Well if you’re hearing in Portugal that McCain is the next Bush than that means that the Obama smear is working globally. And McCain has yet to make any of his smears stick to Obama.

It seems to me that there are some people in this world that will grasp onto anything to support their ideas.Even when faced with overwhelming evidence they still deny the existence of something.History is filled with these kind of people and their beliefs.And to AROCES , an official birth certificate has been produced in this thread several times, if you think that it is a fake then the burden of proof is then on you to prove otherwise, just as it would be in a court of law.

The thing that gets me is how willing the Right are to be manipulated like this. All these sudden faux crises in the last few weeks: ACORN, Ayers, socialism, citizenship tossed out by a manifestly desperate campaign to distract and hornswoggle as many of the gullible as they can--and, my lordy, how it works! Since Palin's desasterous nomination I've been continually wondering: What lie won't they swallow? What paper-thin justification won't they be parroting ad nauseum the next day?

If any of these disingenuous attacks had a shred of validity, the McCain campaign WOULD NOT HAVE WAITED TILL THE LAST MONTH OF THE ELECTION to say anything about them. McCain wouldn't have waited until the last of the three debates to merely mention them. If any of it were remotely true, Hillary would have destroyed Obama with them last year. Obama would be a footnote in Presidential history. But it's b.s. and as Palin herself said, the campaign has nothing to lose (except of course, dignity, credibility and any vestige of decency), so they're throwing whatever they can get their hands on at Obama and hoping the uninformed and the malicious will turn the election around for them. And thank our lucky stars, thank rationality and the power of democracy, it doesn't seem to be making the crucial difference that they need. Reality, one; McCain/Palin, zero.

As far as Ayers, socialism, & citizenship these didn't just pop up they've been around off and on since the summer. McCain’s failure to make them real issues along with Rev Wright will haunt him for sure.

I'm not even going to try to defend Palin even if I had the desire to do so. What should be talked about is how Biden adlibs and stretches the truth like Gore use to do when he does adlib. Everyone slams Palin but gives Biden a free pass. Biden actually withdrew back in 87 from the presidential race because he plagiarized a British politician. And it's quite well known that he stretches or even mangles the truth. But Biden has escaped scrutiny threw this last 2 months.

And remember most of everything that McCain has brought up was brought by Clinton and Biden during the race for the Democratic Nomination.

I'm up for a laugh at Sarah Palin as much as anyone but that is going WAY to far. I'd rather have a romantic night with a piece of moss than Paris Hilton, I'd probably have a better conversation with it as well.

I'll only consider Paris Hilton American when she learns how to spell it.
