Obama might be next Hitler

Remember how a month ago we were still hearing about how Barack Obama needed to stop *****-footing around and get aggressive? Well, now a Georgian congressman named Paul Broun is admonishing America that President-Elect Obama might be the next Adolf Hitler. Yes, Obama as in the first black American president. Yes, Hitler as in the man who with a bit of Gleichschaltung and Third Reich rhetoric was responsible for the deaths of 6 million Jews, not to mention the gypsies, homosexuals, and other non-Aryans during the Holocaust. Evidently when Herr Broun heard Obama’s speech last week, he thought the “Yes we can” motif referred to beginning WWIII.

Jake Tapper of ABC News writes:

Rep. Paul Broun, R-Georgia, recently said that he fears President-elect Obama may create a security force akin to the Gestapo to impose a Marxist dictatorship.

"It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he's the one who proposed this national security force," Broun told The Associated Press. "I'm just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may - may not, I hope not - but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism."

In July, Broun explained, Obama spoke of creating a civilian force so as to help the military shoulder some of the nation's national security burden...

"That's exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it's exactly what the Soviet Union did," Broun said. "When he's proposing to have a national security force that's answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he's showing me signs of being Marxist."

Broun theorized that after Obama creates this national police force he'll ban gun ownership.

"We can't be lulled into complacency," Broun said. "You have to remember that Adolf Hitler was elected in a democratic Germany. I'm not comparing him to Adolf Hitler. What I'm saying is there is the potential."

Well, looks like that's another person I hate.

I can't believe that someone would say something like that. I can't believe that someone is a senator.

Ok this isn't as bad as all the people buying guns in scores because Obama's president-elect now.. or as bad as those who commited suicide because of this..

People are commiting suicide because America Elected Obama. Why don't I see or hear about these people on CNN? Come on, people are going to kill themselves because America picked Obama instead of McCain?

Quick observation about the Jon Stewart quote on your sig Ufo B,

"I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore", I swear that's from the film Network.

This isn't a criticism, i just saw that film the other day and it had basically the same line. Stewart and I must have the same tastes, great minds think alike.

I disagree. This is pure hate speech. Buying guns because you fear upcoming change and possible chaos, is a case of people taking precautions because they fear the unknown. Suicide, well, that's just morbid humor.

I can't believe some of the things people are saying about Obama. I mean, I'm afraid of what his national agenda may be, but this is such total ignorance. The next Hitler, what total hateful stupidity.

It's adding fuel to the fire that is just as bad as the riots that the dems had when Bush "won" in 2000. I agree.. it is hate speech and really is uncalled for. I just find people buying weapons and thinking suicide is an "out" because of who's elected down right horrid and idiotic. Compairing Obama to Hitler ... there really are no words.

This is *NOT* taking the high road and being mature about your canidate loseing the election.

pfft.. I can't wait to laugh at all the morons who are freaking out in 4 years when nothing has changed (Though I would rather things get better). See that's the worst that could happen, right there. Heck that's the most probable outcome.. nothing changes. Its not something I look forward to, but its not so scary I'mma buy a gun.

I'm picturing some of these nutjobs with big poster board signs reading "THE END IS NEAR", standing in the streets in their nice business suits, clean shaven, shiny black shoes... pretty much what they're doing.

Well, politicians NEVER learn the old saying "If we don't learn from history we're condemned to repeat it." We all know how it's going to end if he is the next Hitler then, don't we?

Ronnie Reagan was closer.

Reagan(6)

Hitler(6)

Both well liked. Both scapegoated one group within society(Jews and Immigrants respectively). Both were aggressors in conflicts. Both democratically elected. Both idolized by a particularly deranged minority(neo-nazis and neo-cons), etcetera.

Very possible.

But you still have to go by what the man says. I'm shocked at how many people just ignore what is being said and promised.

Keep in mind that Hitler and the Nazis were legally elected into office. Once there they changed the system so that no one else could oppose them.

Yes Bush was also "elected" and then proceeded to use the constitution as toilet paper.

What exactly, IYO and without googling for an answer, would be the overall policy

of a Nation wide citizen police force with more funding than the existing funding

for all the USA's military? What would be the purpose and/or need for such thing?

How did Hitler get the vote? He staged a false flag operation and burnt down there own parliment. Blaiming it on Poland. Obama has not done anything like that. I see no similarities and checks and balances might be a little one sided right now but I can't see anything sisnister on the part of Obama.

Edit:

wanted to add, I didn't see anything sinister from MCcain either.

 Oh the woes of having socialist tendencies, in a hyper-pro-capitalist country.

If Labour (UK) didn't turn into an Adolf Hitler campaign, Americans have little to worry about. Apart from religious dictatorship.

No he didn't... He blamed the burning down of the Reichstag on the Communist party (KPD). Although, this was only a political stunt, and not the whole rise to power and fame in Germany in that period. He had a lot of influence on people, due to the treaty of Versailles and the depression Germany was having, and promised to knit everything back together for Germany and its people. But again, that's a stage of his progression, not the progression itself.

I didn't see anything sinister about McCain either, nor Obama. Palin, however, is an obvious different story.
