Weve had this a few times before and I posted up some very recently released phottos of different lower orbit angles that show it is indeed just a large eroded weathered hill. Apparently NASA have been laughing at the suggestions it's a face since 1977! Sorry to all you desperate Alien hunters out there!!! I will try to find the photos and post them up again.

Mind you, that could just be what they WANT us to know wink2.gif (for all you conspiracy theorists out there).

i dunno, seems kinda silly to me...i mean, we dont have a huge sculpture of humans on our planet...o wait...Mt. Rushmore, in the US...oh crap! ohmy.gif The aliens are real! They're coming! alien.gifrolleyes.gif

Good image. But then again, if you looking hard enough for something, you will find an image! I'm sure there will be a rock formation that looks like a rabbit up there if we spend enough time looking for it!

Well, besides Mt. Rushmore, there are "technically," faces on earth...

Check the Crop Circles Faces

Check the Rock Formation faces.

IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A WHILE... IM LOOKING FOR A HEAD FORMATION IN A MOUNTAIN (ON EARTH) IF ANYONE KNOWS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT CAN YOU POST THE LINK/PICTURE...

This is a pretty good website if your interested in Mars... They believe there is a Face, City and Pyramid...

Face/ City and Pyramid on Mars

This site says there is no face on Mars...

The Explination of the face on Mars

Also:

Four Bob-sledders formation

Goose rock formation

Old lady and house formation

Cowboy formation

Did humans create these? No, so why would aliens make the faces on Mars.

DUN DUN DUN!!!!!!! ROCK THAT LOOKS A BIT LIKE A FACE SHOCKER! READ ALL ABOUT IT

Has anyone considered a third -- and far more likely -- scenario? Why would ancient Martians responsible for the great stonework (constructed circa 65-100 million years ago) depict primitive humans? Evidence shows that their civilization was in contact with another race of aliens at the time . . . a race crucial to the survival of the Martian species . . . a race we on Earth have only recently come to know as "the grays" . . .

This is so funny, yes. Ancient martians who left no sign of their existance other than a rock sculpture is far more likely than natural erosion.

Ahahah oh it gets better, I'd love to see this "evidense" not only prooves the existance of martians but also that they were in contact with another race of aliens.

Hangar18,

I hope this passes muster...

Among the many candidates for Mars landing sites, Cydonia was proposed

for both the Viking 2 and Pathfinder missions, but later ruled out. It does not

have terrain or weather that is optimal. You want enough wind to spread

material over rocks and rock-ejecta. Very small detail is camouflaged

from above, and so few chances are taken.

In addition, the key factors for the MER missions centered around

landing safety, evidence for life and biomarkers, sediments, rock, and

water. Cydonia is for some other time...

Closer In

Closer Up. Mound is approximately 1 mile wide, 2 miles long. (1.6 km x 3.2 km)

There is enough H2O ice beneath the martian surface, at around

5-10 meters, to cover the planet ankle deep in water. The poles are

covered in CO2 ice, with water below them, as well.

Cydonia is not the wettest region.

Here is a map that relates to hydrogen, and water beneath the surface.

Included are the landing sites for Opportunity (O), in the middle,

and Spirit (S), in the east, and Cydonia inside the box. The charts

extend below, on the page, to include the obvious polar regions.

In North vs. South, I'd put my money on the higher latitudes.

Like other parts of the planet, the poles have errosion,

like this animation of the North Pole.

It is 6MB, so I have a stills-comparison, as well.

The seasons on Mars have a theme- the orbit and the axial tilt.

http://www.geocities.com/swj20x2/SeasonsMa...l?1080877859655

The results are notable, on the macro level, and at the smallest grains of dust.

This volcanoe, Pavonis Mons, is around 2 times the height of Mt. Everest.

It took only a few years to hide the crater beneath silt and dust.

Finally, not all changes are, in fact, explained by weathering and erosion.

Some remain mysterious surprises!

And just to end this on a happy note-

I uploaded too much, too fast to Yahoo. They should restore it later...

Sorry about that...

In the comparison below, the best Viking 1 (1977) image has been enlarged

to 3.3 times its original resolution, and the Mars Orbiter Camera (1998) image

has been decreased by a similar 3.3 times, creating images of roughly

the same size. In addition, the MOC images have been geometrically

transformed to a more overhead projection for ease of comparison with

the Viking image. The left image is from Viking Orbiter 1, the middle image

is a portion of MOC frame shown normally, and the far right image is the

same MOC frame but with the contrast reversed to simulate the

approximate lighting conditions of the Viking image.

Compare Viking Orbiter picture, 1977; and Mars Orbiter, 1998.

One last thing. I have been through some of the datasets for the

earliest NASA Mars Missions. That would include Mars Mariner 4 (1964),

Mariner 6 (1969), and Mariner 7 (1969). Beyond that are the

Viking orbiters/landers, a fraction of which I mentioned, in passing.

Nonetheless, for anyone's consideration- most of the photographs

of the early missions were of the eastern regions, and reportedly

~20% of the planet. The Viking missions, begun in 1975, really opened

the Mars surface for mapping and photography.

That said, a lot of changes, and erosion, could conceivably have

occured between 1964 and 2001, the date of my largest images.

Great stuff guys!! One question about all the pits, especially thecircular ones?? Could they have been left by alien spacecraft?? I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything just want some opinions..

By circular ones do you mean the crop circles?... And if you do then yes some people believe they are formed when a spacecraft lands... People also believe they were made to direct other aliens to land on the crop circle "lading strip." These have also said to have been made by orbs that simple part the crops into the formations... While some believe aliens did these crop circles, others say it can be done by pranksters with planning, wood planks, and rope...

Well, I am not skilled enough to set up a hyperlink or even add a pic of it here...frustrating...!

But I am intrigued by the face on Mars!

Do you think it's just a rock formation?

Closer pictures of the face were taken years ago and revealed it was only a small, flat rock formation which actually did not look one bit like a face. Not even close.

The fact is that the picture where it looks like a face is taken from very very very far away, at an angle that casts shadows over it's landscape.

Just a dry, barren rock. The pictures were disapointing. I'd find them but don't have access here at work.
