emberlake Posted December 2, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 2, 2008 (edited) Aanica, Thanks for sharing this interesting & creepy video. She really does have a creepy hiss going on . I find it strange they titled it 'When Pukwudgie Attacks'. I'm not an expert or anything, but I don't recall reading anywhere that the Pukwudgie can possess a person. Apparently they can shapeshift into any being and could mimic a person, though. I hope you don't mind that I'm adding info & links about the Pukwugie, if anyone wants to go and check it out. (If you do mind, pm me and I'll delete/edit the info out of this post... I won't mind a bit and I'm very understanding. ) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pukwugies of Indiana Dark Destinations - Mounds state park The Modern day sightings of the pukwugies in Indiana are described as small, glowing, grey, about 2 ft tall, big noses-ears-fingers, shapeshifters, killers, lures their victims with spirits. ------------------------- Pukwudgies of Massachusetts --- The Pukwudgies: Myth or Monster website has a legend of the beginnings of the Pukwudgies. A couple of the more modern day stories tell of different individuals that encountered a Pukwudgie in the woods and is seemingly stalked and observed by it ever since. There's also a cliff in the area that has had a unexplained suicides by people who are seemingly happy and sane. The legend suggest that it's the pukwudgies that lure the people to the cliff and through some type of negative encounter they cause the person to fall to their death. --- excerpt from the 'Pukwudgies: Myth or Monster' website: *Of all the unknown horrors that live in Bristol County, the most feared is not a animal or a ghost or the members of Satanic cults that walk the forests, but a demon only two feet high, and if the history of the area represents the history of our America society, these Pukwudgies are the gatekeepers of our darker side. The Pukwudgies have haunted the forests of Massachusetts since before the first European Settlers ever thought about setting out for a new land. For centuries they tormented the local Native Americans and crept their way into their creation myths and oral history. They could easily be passed of as legend, and in fact, their physical description is much like mythological creatures from other cultures in other times. The difference is these demons jumped from the page and evolved as the people around them changed, changing from reluctant helpers to evil tormentors. The difference is these demons are still seen by people today. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pukwudgie <----(wiki link) excerpt: *A Pukwudgie is a two or three foot tall troll-like being from the Native American Wampanoag. Pukwudgies' features resemble those of the Native Americans, but with enlarged nose, fingers and ears. Their skin is described as being grey, smooth and at times has been known to glow. In Native American lore, Pukwudgies have the following traits and abilities; * to appear and disappear at will * to transform into other animals * they are able to use magic * they have poison arrows * they can create fire at will * Pukwudgies control Tei-Pai-Wankas which are believed to be the souls of Native Americans they have killed. Native Americans believed that Puckwudgies were best left alone. When you see a Puckwudgie you are not supposed to mess with them, or they will repay you by playing nasty tricks on you, or following you and causing trouble. They were once friendly to humans, then they turned against them. They are known to kidnap humans, push people off of cliffs, attack their victims with short knives and spears and to use sand to blind their victim. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Edited for spelling... geeze... my parents sure got their money's worth with my high school diploma... emberlake Posted December 2, 2008 #6 Share Posted December 2, 2008 No way I appreciate all input on this, I never knew these things existed till now.. post all you can ... Aw shucks, I don't have but a wee bit more info and it's on the good guys... and here it is... ----- While book shopping at amazon I came across a book titled, 'The Puk-Wud-Jies of Indiana' by Paul Startzman. It's out of print, so I can't get it, but I'd like too, It sounds like it'd be an interesting read according to the review left by a customer on Amazon. here's the book's Amazon link 'Puk-Wud-Jies' by doing a search on Google. I discovered there's different spellings & a different types: Puk-Wud-Jies, Puk-Wud-gies, Puk Wud-ies, Puk-Wud-les. Unfortunately, I haven't found any stories in relation to the Puk-Wud-Jies, Puk Wud-ies nor Puk-Wud-les. There's very little info either, but Here's the gist of what I found. Puk-wud-ies of Indiana Modern day sightings of the Puk-wud-ies. Delaware Indian legend. They're a peaceful tribe of little people who are still living in the forest. People still report seeing them. They live in mounds in the area Alexandria (Anderson Area) Mounds State Park and they dress in blue gowns. Above info is a mix from the scant info on these following websites: Haunted Indiana ABC - Locations pg 1 Haunted Places Of Indiana (Mounds State Park) Indiana by Phyllis Thomas (posted on Google books) ----- In fact after reading what they look like I believe this is what I saw out in California about 5 years back...the description fits pefect That is so cool. I'd love to here about it, or if you posted a thread, link me up and I'll go read it.

PercyJackson Posted December 2, 2008 #9 Share Posted December 2, 2008 actually, its my first time to hear this "monster" or entity... and it sounds interesting, It is really nice to study or reading forums like this, you'll know many things that are hidden to everyone maybe, if we will post this topic in urban legend we will learn more... It is just a suggestion...

It is just a suggestion... I agree these forums are interesting and there's a plethora of strange and unusual info to 'learn of'. That's why I hang out here. The Pukwudgie aren't monsters, they're considered to be 'little people', albeit some of them sound like they have evil intentions that are quite monstrous. If this was 'just 'a Pukwudgie discussion, it would belong in the "Cryptozoology, Myths and Legends Cryptozoology, mythical creatures and other legends " but it's not.... This thread is about a video that a team took of one of their members being possessed by something. Therefore, the thread is in the right forum. They called it "'When Pukwudgie Attacks'". I responded with my info because from what I've read of the Pukwudgie, possession hasn't been mentioned. I was trying to share info for further basis of discussion on if the possession could have been something other than what the video-makers thought it to be. I'm curious as to why that you think moving the thread from here to 'urban legends' would help us to 'learn more', just the title alone will bring members & readers in that may post their thoughts and info on the Pukwudgie or possessions? To Aanica & the Mods: I apologize. If you think my comments have derailed the thread, I will delete my comments or the Mods can. I will understand. Sorry, if I my suggestion goes wrong... we're getting far from the topic but I just would like to extend my apology to you... cpjason Posted December 2, 2008 #15 Share Posted December 2, 2008 (edited) I love local flavor stories like these. If you search google you will find a load of information about the pukwudige. There are similar phenomena all over the world, but most of these superstition types of paranormal activity happen in Europe. I had heard of this vaguely but I had never really read that much about it so it was interesting to read about. When I say superstition I mean the local people have given the paranormal activity a name, and brought forth what they think the creatures should look like. The paranormal activity in these areas are often very real, but the story behind them is usually fabricated. I would liken the phenomena to greek mythology when in early times persons made up stories to explain things they did not understand. As an example people would often give the constellations in the sky names and create mythology to surround them. It's a very interesting aspect of human creativity and intellect.
