UM-Bot Posted February 2, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2009 A baby born in San Francisco's Saint Luke's Hospital recently shocked both parents and doctors alike when it was discoverd that the newly born infant possessed multiple extra digits, a total of 12 fingers and 12 toes, all of which in full working order."A Daly City couple is beaming after becoming the proud parents of a healthy but incredibly rare baby boy this month. Baby Kamani Hubbard has six-fully formed and functional fingers and toes on his hands and feet. It's called “polydactyly” -- extra digits -- not an uncommon genetic trait, but Bay Area doctors say they've never seen a case so remarkable."View: Full Article (With Video) | Source: KTVU

jbondo Posted February 2, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 2, 2009 He may be able to run faster but I'd probably get the extra toes removed. As for the hands, they could come in "handy".

Catherine347 Posted February 2, 2009 #8 Share Posted February 2, 2009 eeeepppp... I'd probably get mine removed, too. I hope he doesn't get teased when he gets older :S My best friend went to camp with a girl who had eleven toes. No one noticed, except for her. She-ra Posted February 2, 2009 #9 Share Posted February 2, 2009 This baby is adorable. I saw the report about this on CNN. They said that this has occured previously on the father's side. Also, the doctor didn't even notice it at first.

Oen Anderson Posted February 3, 2009 #11 Share Posted February 3, 2009 Piggies squeal! ------------ I had a friend who was born with an extra nipple, his first born son had six toes and six fingers on both limbs, he too also was born with an extra nipple. No one can say that they are not original! The Anunakki, the Sumerian gods had six fingers and six toes on each hand and foot. They passed this characteristic on to the night time guardians of the Temples who we know as Vampires. Hummmm!

+HerNibs Posted February 3, 2009 #14 Share Posted February 3, 2009 When I was a little girl, my grandfather had a friend who had 12 fingers just like the baby's. No idea about the toes. My grandpa's buddy and wife were always around, weekly bridge games, dinner, whatever. Most people didn't notice the extra fingers unless it was pointed out to them or he put his hand flat on the table or something. Just looked like he had huge hands. :PsYKoTiC:BeHAvIoR: Posted February 24, 2009 #18 Share Posted February 24, 2009 Maybe I'm the only one to think of this so far, but how would he give someone the finger? I was thinking the same thing But seriously, they shouldn't remove any of the extras. If they're all functioning, leave it as it is.
