Republicans now into teabagging parties !

While I do agree with the message and intent that these protests have, I do wonder where these folks were during the eight years that the Bush administaration was balooning the size of government and increasing the deficit.

I think this response preassumes that these protests are Republican affairs.

They are not.

The one I was at yesterday was certainly as harsh on the Republicans as the Democrats, and rightly so. The Republican members of Congress of late have made themselves indistinguishable from their Democratic counterparts. That is, until recently. What I mean is, they spent as much as any Dem legislature did before them while they were in power.

Of course, today they look like penny pinchers compared to the Dem majority we now have.

Of course when you think about it, Ron Paul has been preaching this for years while no one would listen. Now all of a sudden people like Sean Hannity and Rush are beating the drum for constitutional rights, smaller government, less wasteful spending, and what the founding father's message was all about.

These two commentators have been consistent in their approach to what the real meaning (according to them) of conservatism is. I don't see them as jumping on any bandwagon in this regard.

However, I do see that they have jumped on this protest bandwagon.

I don't know if you actually listen to these two guys, but both were quite critical of Republicans during the Bush years, at least while they held power in the legislature. Both commentators almost constantly harped on the excessive growth of government at that time and the fact that the Republicans were going far astray of their roots in conservatism. Most of this discourse was buruied under sheafs of words about the Democrats constant cry about "Selected - not Elected" and "The war in Iraq is lost," etc.

I think you'd have heard much more from both commentators about the sad state of the Republican party if the Democrats hadn't given them all those softball subjects to chew up and spit back at them.

( Sorry. Not just Ron Paul but the entire Libertarian Party too ) That's why I respect the protester's message but see them as being very one sided when it comes to who to hold responsible.

I don't see them this way. They've basically got a "throw 'em all out" sort of mentality, at least around here and for now.

 your kidding right. Once a government impliments a tax it never goes away... Right now in Canada they are using the recession to raise taxs and I will bet my last dollar that once we are out of this recession every tax they have put in place will remain in place.

Not so.

A few years ago, a certain tax on communications was retired.

It originated to help defray the cost of

THE SPANISH - AMERICAN WAR!!!

No joke, but it is funny!

Let me tell you how it will be;

There's one for you, nineteen for me.

'Cause I'm the taxman,

Yeah, I'm the taxman.

Biff,

when the fab four came out with this, the above ratio was precisely the tax levied by the British govenrment on entertainers like the Beatles. Yep, 95 percent.

Why do you think Lennon moved to the U.S.?

All,

The Briotish and the Canadian med system is a complete farce. The only thing worse is having no insurance at all.

Obama's plan (right now) is to force (almost) everyone to buy insurance, along with some changes in what insurance companies are allowed to do. The Government would supply subsidies for those with low incomes to help pay for the insurance.

This plan wouldn't be as costly nor nearly as ugly as the Canadian or British plan. If this happens, I hope this is the way it goes.

What Brits say about this is be careful what you get yourself into. Once government subsidized healthcare is in place, making changes to it (or elinminating it) beciomes almost impossible.

Anyone care to be the big bad ole ugly dude that tried to take medicine away from little bitty babies? That's what a political opponent would claim about any politician trying to reform such a system.

Get ready for a real circus folks.

I like our healthcare system.

It's not 100% without fault. We have a shortage of doctors and nurses. But it works.

Yeah I agree. It's a good system but there are doctor and nurse shortages. Also theres too many people abusing the system, they think that they should see the doctor and get prescriptions for every little cough and cold they have. Then again, thats probably why we have a shortage of doctors and nurses.

Anytime it DOES get passed an ignorant and hateful group pushes a law to reverse it.

"A storm is coming"

(define coming)

A storm is coming. Look at it this way, that idiotic stereotype of right wing radicals by homeland security, and then those clips of a CNN reporter in the faces of these "radicals" who with a baby in hand and peacefully said what was on their mind. Guess who was the p***y, the "radicals" or the reporter? To top it off today President Pelosi gives the tea parties hell with Propaganda to back it.

Believe it or not (I could care less) I am a democrat when voting local and state. Here in Kentucky Democrates have always seemed to run a better deal. Plus I have many, and I do mean many family members who hold city, county and even state positions. I am fortunate and blessed to have such good people as my family, anyways when it comes to the federal govenment I look at history. We are in for a storm .....

...... and maybe worse. This is what scares me. Peaceful protests of goverment principals (not of government itself) and they are attacked and slandered. Listen folks, you can only push these "radical" "anti government" "hate mongers" so far, AND THEIR PACKING!!! They are being civil with their protests right now ... and it is by far not over.

I believe that "FEDERAL" Democrats have had a well thought out plan on changing the america that they hate and at the same time ruling america under a one party rule.

These people have been stabbed in the back by their own parties "leaders" who strayed away from their own conservative values. According to statistics the United States of America has more people with conservative values than liberal .. just stating a fact from last year though it was before the past election.

These republicans see what I do .. you cannot go to an IBM machine and get more cash than is in your account. We will feel the glory soon on the economy side of things ... our children, grandchildren . . . will not be so lucky.

What really p***es me off is that internationally we have such a popular and celebrated immigration system.

But when we get skilled foreign doctors, nurses, teachers and engineers we end up putting them to work driving cabs, cleaning schools, crap that should be left to dropouts.

I saw a doc last time about how there were roughly 1000 (probably way higher, I just know it was a 4 digit number) foriegn doctors (mostly from india and sigapore and stuff) in B.C (or was it in all of Canada? IDK) and only 8 were giving a chance to practice (they have to work 3 years as a resident under supervision)..

Force? You mean as to make it mandatory? The way I understood it, if one didn't have health insurance but couldn't affiord it, they would be able to get it at a lower more affordable rate with Uncle Sam subsidizing the difference.

What Brits say about this is be careful what you get yourself into. Once government subsidized healthcare is in place, making changes to it (or elinminating it) beciomes almost impossible.

Well it's got all the makings for a hypocondriacts dream come true. Like a moth to a flame. I've said it twice and I'll say it again, if we can't trust the govenment to properly regulate the banking industry, then what makes anyone think, including the government, they have the ability to manage a lofty social program such as universal health care?

Pandora's box comes to mind.

Anyway, I wasn't aware the teabagging parties are strictly a Republican function (even though that is how the media is spinning it). Besides, the Boston tea party was about taxation without representation. But whatever.

1 who decides which coughs and colds they should see the doctor for.

2 isn't that what health care is all about.

While I do understand some of the fear and concern, middle & low income taxpayers who ironically stand to gain the most from Obama's tax policies have once again been manipulated by the incoherent/incompetent GOP. <_<

This is basically the Bush/Republican 8 year policies backfiring back into their/our faces. The boyz came in and broke all the dishes & fine china into little pieces. (although I heard Clinton was responsible for some of this too-although he balanced the budget) So yes, now we are all stuck cleaning up the leftover mess, aren't we.

Something has to be done.

Here is some more tea bag mockery to enjoy from Jon Stewart & Colbert. I'd rather laugh than cry

Repeat after me: There is no cure for the cold.

Going to the doctor for one is just a waste of time. Not just yours but all the doctor and nurses who have to treat you.

As basic as I can make it, it's the Federal Reserve that is not federal at all and it's buying America and everyone associated.

First, he signed trillions to expand the government, a week later he said he will cut the deficit. Who can keep up with this guy?

Here you assume that every individual is only interested in what government can do for him/her.

There are still people out their with loftier goals than self-interest.

Few liberals understand this point, thus the article "What's wrong with Kansas," which posed the question why did Kansas go for Bush when Gore (and Kerry) had plans that would have made more free money available to Kansans?

First of all, despite the fact that it may seem as if I gain from Obama's policies, I am intelligent and skeptic enough to know this is not so. The city of New York is currently facing a crisis which Obama's policies are about to make a national crisis. NYC, with a population of about 9 million has a tax base which requires that the top 0.5% of the wage earners pay almost 50% of all taxes. Because NYC has been overspending in it's attempt to be the nanny of all it's residents, they are now faced with the need to increase taxes, but several of those 49,000 (the 0.5%) top wage earners have stated that if their taxes increase, they will leave. The thing is, if even 10% (4,900) of these people leave, the rest of the tax payers would have to be taxed to death in order to make up the revenue lost! Additionally, if these top 0.5% leave, businesses will close, so there will be more unemployed residents who will then need even more of the government assistance they've become dependent on, so the government will need more revenue, so they will have to raise more taxes, so more people will leave, which will mean less jobs and less revenue even as more revenue is needed to provide the aide they've made their residents dependent on, which will mean they need to raise more taxes....

No. More taxes are not an answer and it is also morally wrong.

The government has NO right to anyone's money! To buy into the idea that the government deserves more money from the rich because they have more money makes us complicit in this immorality.

Actually, it was the Republican-controlled Congress which balanced the budget. Unfortunately, the Republicans then became as enamored of power and money as the Dems were and thus began the era of big Republican government. Like I stated before, this is not about a Democrat or Republican government, it's about a Federal government which has grown too big, is overreaching past it's Constitutionally-given role and power, and is spending well beyond it's means, the means of the current citizens and the means of generations to come!

As long as the "Big Brother Government" lovers can convince non-liberal Democrats that this is a rich people, Republican scam, they will be able to continue the slide towards a socialist, government-controlled economy. And when China AND the former Soviet Union, the countries which were steeped in this type of government/economy, are warning us not to go there, it's fantastically STUPID to continue on that path.
