Stormcrow Posted May 6, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 6, 2009 nnnnnnnnnn why. I have a feeling, though we could learn a lot from it, some idiot is going to get a brilliant idea from it all. John Hammond all over again.
:PsYKoTiC:BeHAvIoR: Posted May 6, 2009 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2009 To quote Dr. Ian Malcolm in The Lost World: Jurassic Park; Oh, yeah. Oooh, ahhh, that's how it always starts. Then later there's running and screaming.
hippomchippo Posted May 6, 2009 #5 Share Posted May 6, 2009 I doubt they'll be able to repopulate the world with dinosaurs, considering how damaged the DNA might be, it would be unwise to try and clone a dinosaur with incomplete proteins, it would probably die before it reached adulthood. View: Full Article | Source: New Scientist I don't see the point really. Why, to prove that we can? Someone is going to want to create dinosaurs, I just know it. They are extinct for a reason, this is one of the few things we can't blame ourselves for - bringing them back would only cause problems. It's like, an invasive species, but even more potentially devastating.

ROGER Posted May 6, 2009 #8 Share Posted May 6, 2009 All they proved is that bone ISNT 80 million years old Ya lost me a little Preacher, I didn't see a dating discrepancy. But any way their not trying to "Clone " any thing. they just want to track how the Dino's evolved from other know critters. And see if any modern creatures are related. Who knows, that piece of KF Chicken may be distantly related to a T Rex. YUM YUM!
Shuriken Posted May 6, 2009 #9 Share Posted May 6, 2009 settle down... we can't even clone a mammoth, never mind a 80 million year old dinosaur from a rotten bone...

I think your chicken is very much related to the dinosaur of yesterday but it does not roam around free and it's better staying that way .

Exterminator Posted May 7, 2009 #13 Share Posted May 7, 2009 If you see from a different perspective, we started from our past to the future but again we are going to the past! But still extracting something which 'resembles' cells is very far from cloning breathing dinosaurs.

Dont worry I doubt the dinosaur would be able to live in this timeline, especially with our climate now, even if they did clone one and it escaped I doubt it could compete with mammals and would soon die.
