blinky Posted May 17, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 17, 2009 (edited) Okay.. thanks Chemical... I just lost my lunch all over myself... hey Chem! could you please let the Queenie know that we are definitely not amused, on this side of the pond? With her having chosen THIS subject to get royally flustered about? Especially after having given Tony Blair the royal nod, way back when? remember? to help George W. attack and invade Iraq on false pretenses? creating exponential enemies for Britain and the U.S.? at a cost, apparently, of a world economy? Where was her majesty's meaty outrage? when her own nation was ignominiously used as a "source" of credibility on Iraq's non-existent WMDs? please? Let's have her justification, in plain, pallid English... And also, while there, could you transmit, to her, that we think she's just buggin' Brown now to distract from something else... What's really going on, Lizzy? thanks! Edited May 17, 2009 by blinky

+DieChecker Posted May 18, 2009 #5 Share Posted May 18, 2009 I read about this in Time also. It amused me that the MPs from Northern Ireland still file expense reports, but have never been to Paraliment. The article is not online yet, only in the magazine, but it is funny to see all these MPs having to cough up money to reimburse these "accidental" claims. As she's apart of the British Heritage, and brings in a LOT of tourist income, not to mention the Royal family are ambassidors. I still think she should abolish Parliament and reinstate it afresh. I believe she has the power to abolish Parliament? But ROFL at the 'Deep Throat' quote. ..I have a bad mind... Something has to be done and fast. the MP's are trying to drag this whole affair out so we become complacent and so become unshockable. and its starting to work, we are two weeks into this shenanigans and f-all has happened. Heads should be rolling all around the floor of the Palace of Westminister. I just cannot believe how far this country has fallen. the shower of **** are getting away with it. Where are the Natural born leaders????????? they usually come to the fore. but am getting the feeling our political system has seen an end to such people through combined processes of PC'ness and legislation. All this time I thought she was just a figurehead that lives off of tax payers. I never knew she actually had power to absolve the British government. Wow. I know she has influence but do her powers really have that much control. I would hate to live under an old Monarchy as I'm just getting use to the new one lol. I would hate to live under an old Monarchy as I'm just getting use to the new one lol. The queen very rarely uses her powers. and usually only does so with advice from her Government. but most of her powers have been taken away. The b******* took away her ability to declare war and peace.(2009) Domestic Affairs, The appointment and dismissal of ministers; The summoning, prorogation and dissolution of Parliament; Royal assent to bills; The appointment and regulation of the civil service; The commissioning of officers in the armed forces; Directing the disposition of the armed forces in the UK; Appointment of Queen's Counsel; Issue and withdrawal of passports; Prerogative of mercy. Granting honours; Creation of corporations by Charter; The making of treaties; Declaration of war; Deployment of armed forces overseas; Recognition of foreign states; Accreditation and reception of diplomats. She needs to do something, the current crop of ministers are taking the p***. I wonder what would happen if Politicians in the US, Canada or Australia got upto the fun and games ours are. just have a read. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/poli...icle6272805.ece Edited May 18, 2009 by stevewinn
The Silver Thong Posted May 18, 2009 #10 Share Posted May 18, 2009 So Basically Steve you are saying the women/monarch has given the power to the people. That should be a good thing, but saying that I see Britain falling apart. Are you suggesting that you miss the monarchy and it's powers? I didn't get from your last post which way you sway LOL
stevewinn Posted May 18, 2009 #11 Share Posted May 18, 2009 (edited) So Basically Steve you are saying the women/monarch has given the power to the people. That should be a good thing, but saying that I see Britain falling apart. Are you suggesting that you miss the monarchy and it's powers? I didn't get from your last post which way you sway LOL No its my fault, i get all frustrated and my posts become unclear. my head is thinking one thing and my fingers cant keep up. and it all comes out in a jumbled fashion. Britain is falling a part not because of the Monarchy or the lack of monarchy rule its falling apart because we the people are more subservient to the Politicians and government more than ever before. we just bend over and prepare to be shafted by the political elite. and there is nothing we can do. This current scandal highlights the lack of people power. and the unwillingness of the MP's to represent the people who elected them. The expenses scandal is an utter disgrace. Parliament should be dissolved immediately. and a General election called. its evident we cannot rely on the Prime minister to do the decent and honourable thing, after all hes part of the problem and caught up in the scandal, He's innit up to his neck. So this is where the Monarch should step in and chop their ****ing heads off the thieving shower of ****. they've got my blood boiling like a bleedin volcano. i just cant believe it. we have people losing jobs, homes and struggling to make ends meet, and yet these privileged lot are claiming expense on everything from Food to light bulbs to even cleaning of moats. they think its a fecking big joke. and worst of all we have to wait a year before we can vote them out.
