Drago Posted July 20, 2009 #51 Share Posted July 20, 2009 Louis: As has already been explained, spiders and crabs use different methods of obtaining oxygen.
star_wars Posted July 25, 2009 Author #52 Share Posted July 25, 2009 Nice one about the bugs, I didn't think about that. I certainly like your rational and open-minded attitude towards the unexplained. yes i like to believe that something is true. Ive notived that a lot of people simply dismiss things like this and i try to make them think
Mattshark Posted July 25, 2009 #53 Share Posted July 25, 2009 (edited) I would not worry about the cold since its pretty warm in small churches. Also there would be enough bugs to eat.Only thing left is the low O2 but as Undeadskeptic said: "gigantism where not expected has occured before." Except with out the O2 it would never live long enough to get that big. And trust me, in northern Europe it will not be warm enough to have a spider that large. Mattshark Posted July 27, 2009 #55 Share Posted July 27, 2009 Are you still failing to accept my Long-legs theory? With long legs it ain't gonna reach half a kilo. The other issue is that O2 is not going to get all the way down the legs.
star_wars Posted July 27, 2009 Author #56 Share Posted July 27, 2009 it doesnt have to be litteraly a half kilo it probably was just really big. like the clockspider

They are big for spiders, but huntsman spiders are by no means the biggest and no spider that size exists outside the tropics/subtropics.

Cos Europe's largest spider is the Andalusian funnel web with an 8cm leg span.
