I'll tell ya what their game is a scorched earth policy. while labour are in full retreat they are making sure that nothing is left for the Tories. leaving the Tories with all the unpopular decision making. they do this hoping that after the high taxes, service cuts etc... people will vote labour 4 years later and bring them back into government. b*******. We've all heard the saying, they'll be taxing the air we breathe next. well no self-respecting government would do that. so they've done the next best thing. tax Carbon. I've said to much. itsnotoutthere Posted July 26, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 26, 2009 You hit the nail on the head, They really don't want to be in power next, because whoever is has got some really unpopular steps to take to get us back to where we were before this failed excuse for a government cocked it all up. I'd rather be hated for fixing something. Than be hated for carrying on an inane gov't. Whoever does take power next - and if it's Liebor I'm gonna go live in Canada. Will probably be hated for their new laws - and I really hope liebors laws are retracted and dismissed - but, if they lead the way to fixing our economy. Then it's a hate they should like. keithisco Posted July 26, 2009 #6 Share Posted July 26, 2009 There has been a Terraza tax in Spain for decades! It is seen as a living area (which, considering the temperatures here at the moment is true) but a Terrace tax in soggy UK? This is plain crazy Hows about relaxing taxation to put more money into the economy, let people spend it as they want, and then get a clear picture of peoples priorities.... How about getting a real say in government, and how OUR (well actually "your") money is spent. I left UK because there was so much money being spent on things that I didnt agree with, but never had the opportunity to get a say on. What is SO WRONG in giving the people a "voice" on such matters??? I just dont get it
acidhead Posted July 27, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 27, 2009 The first scheme, in America was to print and borrow more money but that, obviously, isn't working because other countries are now looking for a more stable and stronger currency ... so the next scheme is to tax the people to death. Taxes for this taxes for that... But rob a country blind and you will get an award for it or the Federal government will appoint you United States Treasury Secretary. Just look at Henry 'the Don' Paulson and Timothy Geithner.

keithisco Posted July 27, 2009 #11 Share Posted July 27, 2009 (edited) Let's start from the beginning...Do you know what the Federal Reserve is? Without being facetious, you might remind yourself that there is a world outside of the USA (or the NAU) and my simple request to explain WHO these people are is no more than a request. Why do you assume that "foreigners" would have an intimate knowledge of the pettier side of USA Politics? You are not alone. Its important to understand the who's what's and why's of American politics because the NY stock exchange is the largest on the planet and it has a direct influence on what happens every where.... even in Madrid, Spain. Only if you meet specific criteria - like being some wacko religious fanatic cult, or an established church..... Hmmmm perhaps I can get away from paying my "comunidad" in Madrid by being a sci-fi writer that turns into a religious wacko (L.Ron Hubbard - Scientology)
acidhead Posted July 27, 2009 #16 Share Posted July 27, 2009 Agreed (in Terms of Market Capitalisation) I would just like to know who these people are without having to Google them. OK, I am lazy Tim Geithner is the current and 75th Secretary of the USA Treasury. He was previously the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Henry Paulson was the previous and 74th Secretary of the USA Treasury and is a member of the International Monetary Fund(IMF) Board of Governors. He previously served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Goldman Sachs. The merger of State and Corporate powers, according to Mussolini, is called Fascism. ---so if it walks like a duck... quacks like a duck.... let's call a spade a spade... --- its Fascism.
