Infant Killed in Horrific Slaying

For something like this to happen, this woman's mind has obviously snapped for whatever reason. She may not have been the most stable person before this pregnancy even happened. I'm pretty sure though that neither God nor the devil had anything to do with it. She is delusional.

According to this link:

Otty Sanchez's aunt, Gloria Sanchez, said her niece had been "in and out" of a psychiatric ward, and that the hospital called several months ago looking to check up on her. She did not elaborate on the nature of her niece's health problems.

So, yeah, she had major problems before this happened, and it also said that the baby's father moved out just a week before this happened. Sounds like she couldn't deal with life.

People like this need to be locked up forever so that the rest of the world is safe from them.

This makes me realize how lucky I am to have mentally stable parents who take care of me and make sure I have a good future.

Perhaps then the Devil truly exists.

Doubt it........If you do not hold a belief in the devil.then regardless if you go bonkers or not...you wont make a claim to say the devil did it

When I gave birth...I had to be visited by a midwife for the 1st few weeks, to check the baby and run tests on me.to see how well I was coping.. its what they do over here when you have a baby

They give you tests, to check and see if you are really suffering post natal depression....its their job

So how come none in the hospital or even after she had it home with her...picked up on her mental illness? even detected it somehow? Do they not do this in the USA?

I thank my lucky stars I didn’t suffer post natal depression...I was fine after it..but even post natal depression couldn’t have went this far...no way...or maybe I just don't understand how far it can go *shrugs*

If you read that last post glorybebe posted, it states that the hospital had called, wanting her to come in for a checkup after the birth, looking for her.

I also had a midwife deliver my daughter, and they tell you to come once a week for a month after the birth to check the baby, but they also check the mother, too. I believe that's a state standard over here.

Though of course, they can't FORCE someone to come in. They may have concerns, but after the mother and baby go home, they can call and suggest that it's best that you come in, but ultimately it's up to the new mother. And most hospitals don't send out someone to visit you at your home.

And if you click the link in my first post, it talks about the extreme that can happen - PostPartum Psychosis. I really do think that's what this woman had/has.

No. Unfortunately there isn't a regular follow-up program to pregnancy that I'm aware of in the US. There should be, as the realization of how big of a responsiblity raising a child is should be followed up and support programs available for those who are having problems coping with the changes in their lives. IMO fathers should be included. Tropies to the states that are recognizing the issues and enacting programs on their own. There's too many reports of abuse on very young children all over.

I had a slight case of postpartem blues after the birth of my third child, who was born 15 months after my second, but it wasn't severe enough that I needed any medication. I was very lucky. When I had my children you spent 3 days in the hospital so the nurse's were able to observe and detect if you were a candidate for post-partum depression. Now your in and out in 1 day. Sounds like using a midwife is a good idea.

It's really not understandable that there was no follow-up when her medical history showed she had been hospitalized for mental illness several times before she became pregnant. If that doesn't get red flags flying I don't know what does. If a program like yours did exist, this situation probably could have been avoided.

The whole thing puzzles me.Why with other people in the house, did no one hear the baby screaming when being stabbed????

That's like the Murder at Keddie Resort up in Northern California.A family was massacared in a cabin at the resort, except for some children sleeping in a back bedroom. Somehow they slept through all the screaming ,crying shouting and whatever noises where going on at the time of the murders. Other people staying in cabins next to this one claimed to have heard nothing.Does Satan have his minions kill in a vacum or errect a wall of silence so the crimes can be committed, without the interference from others who might be able to stop the crime, I wonder about that sometime.

You can Google Keddie Resort murders to learn more on them.

I guess not everyone gets a chance to scream, or people are jsut heavy sleepers, maybe the subconscious mind hears what is going on and forces the body to sleep as a defense mechanism.

Name me an atheist that believes in the devil? <---not to sound rude but only religious people will believe in the devil......and they believe the devil controls a lot of bad things.

Hop over to the religious threads you will get your eyes truly opened on what they all claim the devil is responsible for

It is religion...the devil is only ever associated with RELIGION........ oh and yes there has been murder cases where people claim god made them do it too

Dont try and tell me non believers do this...no they do not......they never claim the devil did it to them...........only those that believe in the devil and the devil goes hand in hand with religion Always has done, always will do

Wrong, a non religious person will also say 'the devil made me do it', people will do anything in some cases to shift the blame from themselves, to try and make themselves feel just a little bit better.

Omg I feel sick. The Reason the mother did it probably has less to do with religion and more to do with her just being crazy. Lady's hearing voices, yep, sounds like crazy to me.

I have posted this link/article at another site I frequent, and was quite honestly very surprised with some of the responses, and posted my impressions there, which I'll repost here without identifying the forum.

I have to admit I'm also a little surprised at the somewhat larger ratio of "yeah but what about the cRaZy racist website booiiinnnggg" or joking comments here - not that I honestly personally care (either about the posters or the mother or child, as I don't know any of them), more in a goodwill-toward-men-oh-my-god-can-you-imagine-I-feel-sick kind of way than any sort of moral outrage; I just thought I had a fairly good handle on the overall temperature of this forum in particular, and have been soundly corrected, though not necessarily with a good idea of what the temperature actually *IS* here.

Not that I didn't laugh at most of the jokes - or find the possibly racist overtones of the story facepalm-worthy, or agree that nothing can be done about it now and being upset makes no difference or that besides quietly snuffing out a tiny piece of my soul, this story is as relevant and meaningful (meaning truthfully not much) to me as any other horror or injustice (or non-bad-thing) going on in the world, be it ethnic cleansing, terrorists, disease, political oppression or whatever. It isn't any different than a somewhat similar story I came across a couple months ago about a dad who bit out his son's eyes and cut off his hand or something, and the quote from the little boy, damned to be forever blind for no thinkable reason, "And then my daddy bit out my eyes. I don't know why he did that."

The place where I got this story from, this resulted in absolutely nothing but 147% horrified-beyond-belief responses, while here, a place which isn't yet 4chan, it gets a handful of horror, a handful of offtopic distraction/association/theory (understandable) but also probably nearly an equal handful of the forum equivalent of a slide whistle and a horn honk. The variation or gap between the two forums and their demographics is so mind-blowingly vast that, as long as I've been on the internet and as much as I've seen, this still surprises me.

I'm not judging people from any position of superiority or tsk-tsk, just relating my essential shock of the infinite flavors of Man

Posted in the other thread about Andrea Yates. She was another woman in Texas who drowned her 5 children in the bathtub several years back. She also had a long history of mental illness and post partum depression. In her case, she was influenced by religion. She said she did it to keep the devil from influencing her children. Again, no follow-up.

Dear mother of Earth! How can anybody do such a thing? :o

That poor little love.

She should never get her freedom back, I don't want those kind of people on the streets, or near children for the matter.

Wow I'm shocked this insane :o

This woman was clearly psychotic and in need of help. I do have to wonder if religion ****ed her up even more. :hmm: There are hardcore christians in this country who seriously believe in demons and possession. Imagine having hallucinations and the people around you actually believe that the thing you're hallucinating (the devil) is real.

BM, if you use a midwife, then yes, they either have you come in, or if you can't, they'll send someone out to your home.

The hospitals don't. The hospitals don't take an individual approach to each patient. You're in, you're out, and that's that. You're expected to follow up with your regular OB/GYN or NP yourself. Unless you try to harm yourself and/or your child while you're IN the actual hospital, they can't FORCE you to do anything. Once you're gone, you're gone. They're not going to send out a police escort to make sure you come to your follow-up visits. For this hospital/care team to actually call the home to check on the mother and try to get her to come in is very rare.

But again, unless it can be PROVEN (and trust me, here that takes a lot) that you are an immediate danger to yourself and/or others, you can't be forced to take medication or get treatment. It's the right of the person to deny treatment.

I would like to state that I'm saying this in general, not directly related to this topic. A non believer could easily blame the devil for a mistake he/she made, people will lie thought their teeth to shift blame, unless your telling me that in all history, no non religious man/woman has lied and said that the devil made me do it. People lie.

Relatives of the Texas mother of a 3 1/2-week-old boy found dismembered in his bedroom say she was diagnosed with schizophrenia and postpartum psychosis.

http://world-news.newsvine.com/_news/2009/...mmentId=8488545

Scott W. Buchholz told The Associated Press that Otty Sanchez, the mother of 3½-week-old Scotty Wesley Buchholz-Sanchez, seemed fine in the days before the killing, even though they argued. However, he said she told him she had been diagnosed with postpartum depression and was going to be admitted to a hospital for treatment.

Sanchez's relatives told The San Antonio Express News that she had been diagnosed with postpartum psychosis, which can cause delusional thoughts and hallucinations.

Otty Sanchez's aunt, Gloria Sanchez, told The Associated Press that her niece had been "in and out" of a psychiatric ward, and that the hospital called several months ago to check up on her.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/07/28/...e=mostpop_story

it seems that is was well know she was mentally unstable, by her family members also, which is often the case...yet no one got involved, i agree with BM we should have measures in place that check for this and protect children.....
