Commander CMG Posted August 7, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2009 A pregnant Briton jailed for life in Laos for heroin smuggling has arrived back in the UK.Samantha Orobator, 20, from Peckham, south London, was caught with 1.5lb (680g) of the drug at Wattay airport in the capital, Vientiane, last August. She escaped the death penalty because she became pregnant in jail and will now complete her sentence in the UK. Orobator was handed to UK officials by the Lao authorities on Thursday in what they said was a "humanitarian gesture". She arrived at Heathrow Airport at around 0630 BST, having flown from Laos's capital, Vientiane. Read more... Now she will complete her sentence in the UK. Great let the British tax payer now foot the bill.

Bill Hill Posted August 7, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 7, 2009 It hurts to be this right... I remember having a bet with someone that she will be brought back to the UK.. No if or buts, it was a definite will. it was bill hill will prediction. No doubt, they will give it all the 'legal obligation to a UK citizen' blah blah but you just know the Foreign Office fought tooth'n'nail to get her back... probably offered a massive bribe. To the uber uk liberal mindset, this case ticks all the boxes; giving that all important 'liberal rush' which Gary McKinnon's case just doesn't have. In my opinion, she should have been allowed into the UK while pregnant and to have her baby, which would then be fostered to a family who will actually love and care for it, while the charming Ms Orobator would be sent back to Laos to complete her sentence. Sadly, human rights seem to extend to those who commit inhuman acts, these days.
stevewinn Posted August 8, 2009 #8 Share Posted August 8, 2009 She should have served her full sentence over their and once the baby was Born she should have been executed. she knew the risks and she chose to drug smuggle. what sort of deterrent or message does this send out. it send out the message, to hell with the consequences, break the law do what you want. you will never be held responsible. we are living in an age were personal choice has no consequences. its not wonder where going down the gurgler.
