He can claim that because he has never been there... but that is OK.

Now, if the Britons feel comfortable with all those CCTV, in fact they even demand more in some places, what is it to you? As far as I know nobody is dragging you there. And, BTW, in downtown New York there are as many surveillance cameras as in downtown London, with a little difference, while the cops have direct access in London and therefore can prevent crimes, in the US somebody has to get mugged before the cops get at those images.... I guess that is why in Britain the crime rates have been lower in the last few years.

OH! thank god I'm going back next month. But serious Britain has been dealing with terrorism long before all that Bin Laden crap, and they have learned how to deal with it.

Well, that explains that 50-foot tall statue of Karl Marx I saw in downtown Winnipeg last week.

It's interesting how people use the word socialist for health care. Our education system for more than 200 years has always been mostly public. Are you sending your kids to a socialist education system?

What about your fire department? It's paid for by government funds. Are our fire departments socialist?

All the roads, highways and freeways are built by government funds. Is it a socialist highway system?

All the police are tax-payer paid. Do we have a socialist police system?

For all of you who are so afraid of socialist systems in the U.S., I assume you are going to give back your social security checks in protest when you start getting them.

Another brilliant post that deserves to be framed in gold. Hopefully this will inspire some to think more deeply.

This whole health care scare has been constructed by the a

erican insurance companies who are very cozy with the right wing

Media machine. And the brainwashed & gullible are scared into a frenzy. "oh lawdy, granny is gonna die and we is all gonna be enslaved by them there socialists!!!"

Heh, some of the people appearing in the add campaign are retracting on their statements now...this could backfire as being what it is: A Horror Story.

Naturally there are unfortunate cases in any system because after all: Humans commit errors, but if we start dragging casuistic to prove that something does not work, the campaign is either aimed at idiots incapable of thinking for themselves or a very shallow attempt of horror propaganda.

In any case, just proves what I have been saying about those who call themselves "conservatives" in the US, incapable of using their brains they suppose the rest of the world is so too.

They are already starting to put video recorders in peoples homes. I think somthing like 20,000 are going in this year. But what ever, if people like living in tyranny, more (or less) power to ya.

One must always ask themselves who has what to lose?

Then you can pretty much figure out what is going on-the pieces of the puzzle start to fit together (not too hard to figure out) and you observe the propoganda game -played upon the gullible -and those who refuse or are unable to investigate themselves, because listening to FOX (the no spin?zone) is so much easier and convenient

the government has set plans in motion to put cameras into the homes of thousands of brits (troublemakers and bad parents i should add). the reason given is that they can make sure that they are behaving and looking after the children properly.

Not long before this lot are out, obviously the conservatives are going to get in and they oppose these cameras, but i can't see them being able to sort out the mess this lot will have left the country in, we need a common sense party.

I think he might be referring to the patriot act put in place by Bush.

Where it doesn't effect anybody but those that want to object to the re pub's re-writing the constitution.

They started that in the late 70s, then we got dvd players. I think the latest craze is blu-ray now! When will I really be free, oh someone end the tyranny.

By the way the NHS is amazing, at least at the "sharp end" where the docs and nurses operate. Shame about all the middle managers who soak up a lot of the money on ridiculous salaries without appearing to do very much at all.

And you can have private health care on top of NHS care if you want anyway. Anyone who argues against universal health care is an idiot, it should be your right in a civilised society.

*that's provided you're too public a figure to 'disappear'.

Maybe the British health care system will kill it.

I was going to say the British health care system was keeping it alive lol

*claps* I am so sick of the anti socialist right wing pieces of crap the feed America fear campaigns.

In Australia we have a NHS scheme that works ......but is being "over run" so the government wants to get people into into private health care. Anyway the point is you are given the option this is what should happen in the states if you dont want it dont have it so be it. But let the others take it.

Why? those things arent paid for by our federal government. Its local and state taxes that pay for police, roads, schools, ect ect. The taxes you pay to the government go to pay the federal reserve interest for printing our own money.
