Noooooooooooooooo!

48 hours gone! :o

All my wit, all my imparted Knowledge, all my advice, all my B***s**t!

All lost and gone forever?

I knew I shouldn't have tried to post a link to that 'Ahem' Specialist site!

Seriously though, things like this happening help us all appreciate all the hard work and efforts of Saru and the rest of the UM team in providing us with this community :tu:

Please feel free to restart any threads that were lost in the crash. :tu:

I would do but i fear the moderators would delete it saying stop posting double threads. :(

Technology can be really cool...but it can also be a total pain-in-the-rear.

Eh...so a few posts (and threads) are now missing. I think the members of UM can easily get past that little hiccup.

I'm sure you'll get things set up soon,Saru. :tu:

This is not the announcement I was hoping to make this morning, a couple of hours before work was due to start on upgrading the forum to IPB 3.0 our main database hard drive suffered a complete failure and took the server down with it. Our service provider was able to replace the disk and I was able to get the database server back on-line however the data that was on the failed drive is unrecoverable.

Fortunately we don't keep all our data in one place and as such I have restored the UM database from a backup however this means that we've had to undergo a 48 hour rollback - anything posted on the forum over the last two days has been lost.

I'd like to offer our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

The scheduled forum update has now also been postponed, more details on that will follow soon.

I know how you feel, Saru.

But I'd like to say here that I've noticed some weird happenings during posting, the last week or so, and I did sent an email about it to the adminsitration.

I remember it was something with 'error 406', don't know if it's of any help (now).

Actually, I saw a bunch of those too, but typically when there was a link or similar embedded in my posts.

maybe Tesla has the answer.

No, he is busy up at the HAARP facility. He is on loan from the Large Hadron Collider at CERN until that is up and running again.

Cheers,

Hi,

I imagine the work being done explains the "last post" times switching back and forth. For instance, Mattshark posted on the Alternate Histories forum at 2:29 then the time is 3:29 and then back to 2:29. Has anyone else noticed this or am I just thick? or both?
