BBC race row as Sikh listeners threaten Muslim radio presenter who 'denigrated holy symbol'

The BBC's Asian Network has become embroiled in a race row after Sikh listeners accused the flagship digital radio station of being insensitive towards their religion.

The BBC was forced to remove a show from its website after Muslim presenter Adil Ray received threats from Sikhs who said he had denigrated one of their religious symbols.

This is what you get when you base yourself completely around being PC.

You insult someone if you're PC one way, or PC the other way. Best way to get around insulting someone, is to insult everyone (AKA; Ditching the pathetic PC-gotta-be's. Why do people love Family Guy so much? - 'Cause they don't give a damn, and will insult anyone and everyone because it's funny. The BBC airs BS anyway, nothing - apart from My Family anyway - sucks to the max, due it trying to shove its way up the PC-bum.)

If you're so thin-skinned, go join Chemical Romance.

So questioning the religious practices of others out of curiosity is an insult? Seriously, shut up guys.

If the sikhs want an insult, PM me and I'll give you a real lashing that you can race row all over the english channel.

God save me from religion.

Follow me my son.....

lol

Man religion must be weak for people to feel so threatened all the time. I say screw-em let them whine all they want. The more trouble they make the better as we will have to eventually clamp down on this BS.

What gets me is that any one any where can slam X-tians and Jews for what ever made up little BS they dream up but, G-d forbid anyone slam some other faith. OOOOH! Insulting "Islamic/Sikh/Wicca/Atheism/any other faiths name here", well that just isn't acceptable! I wonder if it is because people feel that these other faiths just aren't as easily defendable and they know that if someone starts asking questions, their religeons might fall apart like a house of cards? Just a thought. You know, in the West, it's almost a badge of honor to insult the X-tian faith and it's followers. Remember that Obama quip abotu small town people clinging to G-d and guns because they aren't all that bright and stuff? What if i said that about Islam? I'd get a fatwah issued with my name on it and every one would say that I needed a wall to wall conference, a kiwi injection and maybe even some PC training. Why the double standard?

I know that in the past, X-tianity wasn't very tolerant of other faiths. Even Judaism was sort of like htat too in ancient history but, why is it so in "vogue" now? Is it because X-tians built the modern world or that they are assumed to have done so? Is it that these other faiths have something of an inferiority complex?

Just wondering......

Lord.... this isn't the first time you've whined about criticizing religions and their relation to fairness or equality.....

You're jewish.... when the jews were persecuted nobody was talking about the muslims..... now that the muslims are center of attention, after 911, many are on the defensive...

Who can blame muslims.... its not like 911 was committed by ALL of them... no... so of course many muslims are feeling cliched all over the world.

The western system of humanitarian rights and democracy isn't a one way street... the 'fake' liberation of Afghanistan and Iraq prove this....

After your 35 years one would think you've figured that out already... if you don't like the 'unfairness' WHY bother supporting the invasions of Islamic lands?

You're chasing your tail...

Primarily, because when I bash Islam, it doesn't make the evening news.

It may also be important to mention that the first time that most folks MY age even heard the world Muslim or Islamic. it was followed by the word "terrorism/terrorists". And, yeah, I'm talking about the fabulous 1980's. For all of my life, Islam has been the faith of world terror. So, rather I'm right or wrong here, I think that my position is understandable.

If they can cry about being bashed, they shouldn't sit around bashing other faiths. That is really my main point. Besides, I have never backed away from a question about Judaism. I'm no Rabbi or anything but, I have never backed off of it or whined when my faith was bashed. I can give it as good as I can take it and after 5,700 + years, I'd say that Judaism can too.

...... I'll rephrase...

Had First Nation people, American Indians or ANY indigenous people been responsible for 911 and 7/7 than the shoe would be on the other foot.

Would you still be asking the same question?

Uh, yeah, I would.

No matter even if they had, The point still stands. If I were to bash the Native American faiths, I'd be a S.O.B. in the eyes of most folks. On the other hand, if I go infront of those same people and say that only a retard would believe in Jesus or the Torah, I'd get thunderous applause. No lie! I've seen it happen even here to some degree. Those with "traditional" faiths are often referred to as simpletons. Personally, I really don't much care, I'm comfortable with my faith and all but, I was pointing out that it happens often.

I think indigenous people were responsible. Isn't everyone indigenous is some way or another?
