Actually yes you do to an extent.

Basically what you are saying is that rich people deserve more no matter what.

No. Im not even close to rich, yet I have health insurance. Im not even saying there shouldnt be health care reform, so more people can afford it. This administration (or any other) hasnt dealt with any real problems as to why health care costs so much in any of the 5 bills being looked at. The sad truth is we just cant trust our government to work for us. This is all about special interests. This is all about a serious power grab.

And you can't serious compare the 18th century to the 21st. The world has changed and will continue to change whether you like it or not.

Your right, there is no comparison. We live on easy street compared to those people in the 18th century. And they still found a way to get things done for themselfs. It is not the governments job to take care of you from craddle to grave.

No put part its responsibility is to protect it's citizens and ideally improve the standard of living for them and that includes the standard of healthcare.

Should we not be living easier compared to 250 years ago? Should we not have lower starvation, banned slavery and equal rights? It is easy to get things done when you have a slave to do it for you. 12-17% of the population living below the poverty line and nearly 60% of the total population spending a year living below the poverty line in their lives is not just bad for those people but bad for a nation as a whole and the American poverty rate is high when compared to socio-economically comparable nations.

Let me get this right, the government maintains billion(or is it trillion now?) dollar military and intelligence gathering organizations to protect everyone(rich and poor) from foreign invaders and terrorists, and you're OK with that, but if the government spends what probably works out to be much less on a health care system for everyone it is evil un-American socialism? You're far more likely to die from an illness than from a terrorist attack. I think protecting people from treatable illnesses falls under protecting their freedoms, because the dead and bedridden citizens aren't free.

Obama and McCain, either would run the country into the ground, just like what is happening now. I firmly believe one of the reasons for the Iraq war under the Bush administration was to stall the total failure of a predicted failing economy. Either that, or to subvert attention from it to other matters. Regardless, there are fools on either side. Democratic fools, and Republican fools. Ron Paul is a FAR better candidate than what we got stuck with. He is a die hard constitutionalist which is exactly what this nation needs.

I pulled the lever to vote because of ideology. I believe in the ideology of the Founders. I believe in individual freedom and liberty over the freedom and tyranny of the masses.

Our country was formed upon the premise that all men are created equal.

It is the bedrock and foundation of what makes America great.

We are not socialist in that we are mere single digits among the masses. We do not bough to a government that claims it can engineer our freedom.

Every man and every woman holds certain rights that are absolute in the eyes of the Almighty.

The democrat party was the party of slavery. It has been also the party of socialism and corruption. It is a party that still seeks to undermine the American dream that every human being is created equal.

I am a hippie. I am also very new age. but I am also very conservative. New Age Conservative Hippie. I wish to conserve the ideology of this nation's Founders. And Love.

I'm an aging hippie too. The thing that finally put me off to that movement was that it became reduced to a bunch of hollow cliches. These were like a magic password to show that you were part of the club. If you never gave them a serious critical thought and never reflected them in your life it made no difference-- all you had to do was talk the talk.

This is what has happened to modern Conservativism. It's just a bunch of empty slogans shouted at top volume by a sanctimonious, brainless mob. I mean, look at the above post. He might as well be saying the mass in Latin [assuming he doesn't speak Latin]. It doesn't matter what it means, it only matters that he believes it.

An example of the shallowness of the above post would be the soaring statement, "Our country was formed upon the premise that all men are created equal". Did it ever occur to you, TRUEME, that children can't get off to an equal start if some of them get no health care and are sleeping in an army cot at the Y? This obvious fact causes you no confusion because the reality is that "All men are created equal" is your way of saying "I want my cash. I don't owe anything to anyone and I'm not willing to help the poor". "All men are created equal is a very complex statement. Socialists (those hell-spawn incarnate) believe that all men are created equal too. So do communists. Saying, "all men are equal" without elaborating simply means that you passed 5th grade social studies and cam quote the Declaration of Independence. Whoopie doo, hon.

--------------------------------------

The shallow, self congratulatory double talk that wrecked the Hippie movement has gone on to wreck the Conservative movement as well. Shallow slogans served up with a nice big dollop of conceit.

Your definition of the hippie movement was probably "Peace on earth... see, I'm better than you. I REALLY CARE" .

Not to be picky, but only 8.4% of the population had slaves, and that includes black slave owners, so that's not really been imprinted on the majority of the populations mentality.

Also, the vast majority of families in the USA today weren't here in the mid-1800's.

What is kind of sad is that decendents of black slaves target the race of former slave owners when it has been stated MANY times that their very own African ancestors were the ones who sold them into slavery! Do their ancestors get any blame or contempt for that? I've never heard of not even one instance where that is the case. I agree, two original wrongs don't make a right, but balance out the contempt at least, FFS!

African Americans make up about like what...15% of the population? How in the hell can the democrats only be in office do to a minority vote? Truth is a lot of white people had to vote for them too.

Lets assume for half a second that this post isn't ridiculous beyond belief....how is this any different then people voting for Busch because he looked like a guy you could have a beer with? Or all the people to vote based on whether or not the candidate is of their same religion? Or all the people who didn't vote for Obama because he wasn't white?

There is really no logic in this post so I woudld not waste time refuting it. The OP has stated that Malcom X would have been a viable canadite for President today and we know how silly that notion is :tu:

Oh and to the OP, I'm not sure what you're nationality is but I am Black or African-American , I am not a Negro and I hope you don't consider yourself to be one either if you are black.

What the heck are you talking about? Why are you trying so hard to change the subject?

Taking from those who have, and giving it to those who dont, is already proven to be a unworkable system.

Many people pull behind a candidate Because there either democratic Or Republican, They continue to pull behind them after they have not followed through with there promises ..There a traitor to the country ..Because alot of people are not politically mature.. For obama the negro vote was the key factor ..what do we get out of it ..the democrats have been in Washington in dc only because of the negro vote ..People are pulling to sides ..We are in a serious rut ..its not about age ..knowledge or anything ..people are pulling to sides ..because most are not politically mature ..or correct.. And there dumb enough to continue to walk around identifying them self's .. This years election Was not fair ..Nor right ..Obama was elected on the highest half of the negro section ..Which isn't the problem ..Iv asked around ..and its countless on how many people ..voted for a man ..because he was even the slightest black ..That threw McCain short on his end .. I Dont hate obama because he is Black ..I Hate him because his soul is

-Black..Death

Wrong is Wrong ..No matter who says it or does it -Malcolm x

malcom.jpg

and yet blacks have voted whites for how many years ?

whites have voted white this time around just because they didn't want to see a black man in office.

McCain was a joke. and so was some of Pauls' stance. get over it. your just a racist who is mad the white man didn't get the vote. who would always vote white even if the candidate was a shmuck. I bet you voted for Bush !

This coming from the "hope and change", or "yes we can" crowd has got to be one of the funniest things Ive ever seen. Its sad that CNN has convinced you to hate nearly half of all Americans.

while the democrat party of the past was the party of slavery ...... the people that now call themselves republicans ? are those same people. get it ?

think of it like this .... a football game. half way through the game teams switch sides. Except in this game the names remained the same. All those hateful slave keeping democrats ? became republicans .... and all those freedom loving republicans ? became democrats.

LOL, sorry LT but you of all people trying to play the Jesus card, well lets just say its funny, to say the least. Would Jesus aprove of universale health care? Maybe, but he for damn sure wouldnt put the devil in control of it. I already work 5 to 6 months out of the year just to pay a wide range of taxes, to ask for more is just criminal, especialy considering this government has done NOTHING to address any real reason health care cost so much.

I'm not trying to change the subject at all.

Nope, if it is done to a minor degree it is for the benefit of society (poverty is not to the benefit of society). Not talking about total redistribution of wealth. And such systems work well in many countries.

That maybe, but it cant work here. As long as drug companies make us spend 150 bucks for the same drugs, from the same companies, they sell to other countries for 30 bucks, we wont be able to compare. Yet we see nothing from this administration to correct this injustice.

Jesus himself was vehemently against any and all forms of corruption, so anyone supporting a politician of any kind is basically screwed, and rightly so. Why the hell would we embrace a system of corruption? It makes absoultely no sense at all and is rooted in sheer dumbassery! The very people we promote and defend are the ones screwing us over! Sorry to say this, but we really get what we deserve.

Of course it can work in the US, you just need to rid yourselves of a pathological fear of some social democracy.
