Subject: 'UFO' spotted & videotaped over Norway

Helene Solberg glanced out her window on a dark wintry afternoon earlier this week and saw something she won't soon forget. Luckily, her family's video camera was close at hand.

Solberg, who lives in a village with the same name in Asker, west of Oslo, first called her husband while marveling at the comet-like flying object that soared through the late afternoon sky.

The link below will take you to the article, which also contains a short video clip of the UFO. The video is in the 'Quicktime' format, which will begin to load immediately.

Looks to me like something entering the earth's atmosphere such as a comet/meteor or possibly something from a satellite etc re-entering. Maybe.

Definitely not a plane.

Meteor i would say, but it looks particularly big - is this the only place this is reported?

Im not a meteor expert, but weren't the leonid meter showers occuring the same day of the sighting? Maybe they saw a big one.

sounds like a reasonable explaination, though that does look a bit too big ...

It could also be a fake. There's lots of video editing software out there now...

It defenately looks like something re-entering the atmosphere, it is going too slowly to be much else, but why is it dark as night-time at the beginning of the shot and daylight towards the end of it?

It turned out to be a planes contrail, Gareth had already posted an explanation to it here;

If anyone's curious, here's a link to an article concerning space debris mistaken for a meteroite over Vancover and the American Northwest yesterday. There's a short video clip included;
