My husband dl'ed the whole past episodes of season 6 and we had a supernatural-athon this weekend, LOL. We stopped at the episode where death was giving Sam his soul back. So enthralling!

(Part of me wants the Sam with his soul intact, but also part of me wants the Sam without. It's a woman thing, lol).

It was so funny when they made one episode like X-Files, lol. It was cool I thought.

Oh and Dean doesn't make a good Mr. Death at all!

I did too..well up untill episode 11....I am waiting on episode 12 season 6....wanna see what happens to Sam...

To be honest watching the first few episodes of Season 6..I figured they were not as good as Season 5.....sure hope when I get to see episode 12 and onwards...it gets better...!

Any other huge Supernatural fans out there? We currently have to download season 5 as it's not being shown as yet in Australia. What do you think of it? I prefer it when it's more the boys on hunts rather than the dragging out they had been doing. It looks like things are starting to go back to the hunts which is great I'm going to go watch episode 7 shortly. Anyone who wnts to chat Supernatural please reply.

Just realised this post probably needs moving could a mod do so please, thanks!

I haven't watched much but what I have seen I really liked... after hearing about how good it is, I bought the first two episodes off of Amazon Video on Demand and watched them. Really really fun little show! I keep telling myself I ought to start just buying the seasons but I just haven't gotten around to it yet...

Actually it was this thread that spurred me to remember to put the first season on my netflix queue... It's coming up after a couple movies (I've been meaning to get around to "2001 Maniacs" for awhile now) and another TV show (I just realized "Square Pegs" is out on DVD...).

What I have seen of it reminds me of a sort of male version of Buffy (Without the super-heroics)... That is not a put down by the way - Buffy is one of my all time favorite shows...

Oh no I do't think it is the same as buffy..its much better....the stories add up and fit...they use a lot of funny one liners in it and it always leaves you wanting to see more

I thought Buffy was ok...but it didn't have the same spark Supernatural has....it was just fixed more so on Vampires..........whereas Supernatural is fixed on everything - ghosts, demons, all sorts of weird ancient monsters.shape shifters.even the odd vampire in it...actually they focus seasons 3...4 and 5 on satan and demons...a lot of the stuff they use from the bible stories

I loved the part when the 1st angel castelle came..and how the effects of an angels presense can do to a human.... its a show that makes you think - is god real after all?

Not to argue with you... But Buffy was hardly fixated on vampires... after season 2, there was never a "Big Bad" that was a vamp again. We had the Mayor (A guy who wanted to become a pure demon), Adam (Essentially Frankensteins monster made by the govt from human and demon parts), Glory (A god from a hell dimension), Dark Willow (Willow gone bad) and then "The First" (An incorporeal source of evil)... Vamps were just the filler...

I could never get into any of the Buffy seasons... it was a case of - so what if I missed an apisode.... whereas with Supernatural...I can't miss a single episode... for if I did...I would lose the plot easy ............uffy was aimed or watched more by teenie boppers...

PS....The Spin off TV show - ANGEL is a male buffy and it sucked

I've got to admit I like all the shows, Supernatural the most though because of the perve factor. I think I preferred the earlier seasons when they were hunting a lot of different creatures. And there was almost a sort of semi sexual chemistry between the guys, jokes about it were even made in the show later on, but I like that sort of thing. :innocent:

I'm not really into this show. Prob just because there are so many things to do/watch. This woulda been my type of show ten years ago. My buddy totally loves the show. I have seen bout half of season one and that's bout it. Did love the remake of Friday the 13th, that had one of the dudes in it.

Anyway...am I understandin what you wrote right? There was a sexual chemistry between the two dudes? The main ones? Like...they were diggin eachother?

Just curious. It's a slow night.

Well, I moved the first season to the front of my netflix queue and have been watching the first disc today... Here are my initial impressions of it so far :

1. Overall, I am really enjoying the show. I like the revolving door of monsters. It reminds me of the best episodes of the X-Files (The MOTW eps) mixed with Buffy in that regard.

2. I have to say... so far I am enjoying the concept more than the show... The concept of two guys who actually are pretty familiar with the tasks already doing this let's the show get across a lot of exposition pretty painlessly. But... well... the show is lacking the interaction I really want to see. Episode four (The one with the planes crashing) seems to be the first episode with the script giving these two guys a chance to develop a bit of chemistry in having conversations with one another. Here's hoping that continues because the structure of "Meet monster, exposit how to kill monster, kill monster after action sequence" is fun for about three episodes - after that it will get boring unless I can invest in the characters.

3. The setups themselves have been consistently fun. It sort of feels like the show is going through a checklist but it's a fun checklist, so that's okay.

4. The over-arching plot (Finding the father) feels kind of rote... I hope that isn't a continuing story-arc and they dispense with it sooner rather than later. Not that it's not a bad arc, per se... it's just that it's been done before and I want the show to move forward.

Like I said - I really like the show overall so far... I just hope that the minor nitpicks are dealt with.

Just on the show the way they would sometimes look at each other or have to throw each other against a wall was more like lust then anger. Also if you have seen any of their live interviews they are so close I know guys can be close it doesn't bother me if they were gay but as soon as the rumour mills started that they were gay in real life they were both married within 6months. Jared made the remake of Friday the 13th (Sam) and Jensen (Dean) did a different horror movie which was really good can't think of the name of it right now.

Wookietim the first season the boys haven't spoken to each other in a couple of years because Sam left the family business to lead a normal life which is why you've got to allow them to slowly build up a relationship again. The dad story line does carry on all through season one.

I have no problem with the search for the father being this seasons story arc... I am just hoping that it doesn't become the shows story arc. After all, that type of arc has the potential to make the show into "Star Trek: Voyager" (You know what I mean - every time that show was lacking a script - which was 80% of the time - the basic plot of "Find tech to get home is found then is lost and can never be used again in the last 10 minutes")... And I am okay with a shaky first season (Buffy had not only a pilot episode, that entire first season was a pilot season that they then went back and redid in season 2 correctly). But I do need the characters to start gelling personality wise by about the half-season mark. They don't have to be perfect, but I do need them to have some more chemistry than right now.

Don't take that as me saying anything bad about the show - it's entertaining so far. But until the characters of Sam and Dean start to be better drawn it won't make the leap from "Entertaining" to "Really good"...

On a side note... wasn't Sam on "The Gilmore Girls" playing a character named "Dean"?

My Fav Characters in Supernatural are.......

1 - Castiel ( the angel)...........some of the things he comes out with are funny...he once turned up at the motel plastered ( drunk)...Sam asks - are you drunk? Castiel- I found a licquor store...........and I drank it...!!

2 - Dean - he seems to have the best one liners

3 - Bobby - love his attitude and he too has some funny one liners

4 - The tickster ( aka angel Gaberiel) ...some of the funny things he has done to Samand Dean lol

5 . - Crowley - played by Mark Sheppard ( head demon...calls himself king of hell)... love his character........I even like the character he plays in medium

6 - Sam - Well it wouldn't be Supernatural without him...

I love supernatural, but I think it's lost it's way a bit. Maybe season 6 will get better, as I'm only on episode 6.

And as for people who were dissing Buffy and Angel—have you no souls???

I loved the ep. where Castiel started watching porn and wandered why a guy would smack a girls bottom and then start making out with her to punish her. It was so cute. He's just so innocent.

Did anyone see this weeks one? Poor Sam started to remember parts of hell and they had an angry spirit to dispose of.

Poor Dean was most upset when his car became possessed, he was running around going "NO,no not my baby." lol.

Haven't seen this weeks episode my daughter downloaded it and because I had guests all night I couldn't watch it. She then left for Uni early today. I'll have to get my husband to re-download it for me.

I tend to lose interest rather quickly on all these new shows, they start out so good most of the time. Then it wears out, they become so predictable that I just lose interest.

I found some of the series where they mainly focused on one storyline a bit boring. I prefer the ones where they are facing different creatures each week. But then how can you be bored perving at Dean? :innocent:

I have a friend in the US whose brother teaches with Jareds mum, we're both huge Dean fans and it's like why couldn't it be his mum?

  • 4 weeks later...

I've been watching Supernatural since I found it on Netflix. The CW is an unusual format for this type of show - most of the CW is basically for teeny-boppers - but they inherited Supernatural and Smallville from the WB when that network went belly-up. Supernatural, for me, has become an obsession. The two brothers, tied together by blood (family) just struck such a powerful chord for me that I have not found on any another series over the many years I've been watching on television that can compare. The 'Monster of the Week' episodes are great but each season has an 'Arc' that ties all the episodes together. The first season was Sam and Dean looking for their dad. The second season involved the brothers coming to terms with Sam's powers. The third season dealt with Dean's crossroads deal to bring Sam back from the dead. The fourth season (not a favorite of mine) oversaw Dean being brought back from Hell by an angel and Sam being corrupted by a demon. Season five was an exercise of destiny over fate with the brothers confronting the powers from Heaven and Hell. With season six almost completed (and season seven waiting in the wings, so to speak) we find our brothers finally back together, fighting evil (together, like the earlier seasons) and I'm finding that Sam and Dean Winchester are back to being committed to one another and fighting thing that go bump in the night, just like they were meant to. I am enthralled.
