'Dirty' image puts Canada in climate doghous

The country “is the dirty old man of the climate world,” according to a recent Guardian article. Another prominent article published ahead of the Copenhagen climate-change summit called it a “corrupt petro-state.” Various diplomats and scientists have rallied for its expulsion from international organizations.

China? Venezuela or an oil-stained African state?

Try Canada.

Almost 200 countries will attend the Copenhagen conference, which starts Monday, but few of them will roll in with a more blackened image.

No doubt about it the oil sands are a disgusting sight. I was up there a few years ago near Fort Mac and what a dump. I wouldn't live up there no matter the pay. Drugs booze hookers strip clubs you know like wolverine use to hang in. Ok it was kinda cool up there LOL

It's a living garbage dump and the oil sands leave little of nature behind when mined or skimmed what ever you want to call it. Not a chance in hell we will stop minning the oilsands the money flowing is just way to much.

Could South Park be right?

LOL Blame Canada LOL

This whole article is pure propaganda aimed at the canadian taxpaying citizen.

Its intended to try and convince the reader that he/she is guilty of crimes against humanity.

The suggestion is this.... over consumption of C02 by each citizen on a global scale has made a filthy 'dirty' country of Canada.....

The suggestion is that C02 is 'dirty' and so Canada must be dirty too because it has a climate debt resulting from over-consumption..... from shopping at the grocery store to Walmart to the Home Depots.... living in Canada is a SIN...!

Bull-****...

The suggestion is that C02, which each person exhales is a poisoness gas that wrecks the environment and is responsible for every weather pattern ever experienced.

The solution, as proposed by the U.N.'s IPCC non-elected ENERGY-BACKED commitee, is this:

Tax those dirty mother-****ers because they have a Climate-DEBT to pay to a NON-ELECTED PRIVATE organization.

Ive said it before - if the last names on the IPCC's commitee were Italian we would be calling them the mafia.

Pure Bull----****.

Yes the oilsands are horrible...but is that enough to condemn the whole country? We don't have masses of people living in garbage dumps. We don't need to wear masks every time we step outside due to smog. Yes we need to work a lot better at protecting the environment but the 'dirty old man of the climate world'? Please. We're just getting targeted because they know we might actually listen. If China had gotten the lable their reply would have been "yes...and who's going to stop us?"

The oilsands are to far north for most to even bother seeing. Very few people actually live there most just stay in camps.

I agree Acid a bit to much hype over it and really in the grand scheme of things Canada is a pretty damn clean country.

Haha! :w00t:

Now you know what Americans feel like! I love how YOUR responses mirror those of so many Americans when THEY get blamed for something by a random international group of snobs!

Now, I AGREE, I just can't help but notice the similarities to an American response when THEY get trashed!

more or less, you could argue about a few pounds here and there but the overall picture fits. Why?
