Nostradamus did not predict Apocalypse 2012

There many translations and interpretations of Nostradamus' Centuries, but there are few popular editions including the extremely important Epistle to Henry II of France, published together with the Centuries, in the 16th century. All the "Apocalypse 2012 Believers" who are saying Nostradamus would have predicted this, are omitting the Epistle for very obvious reasons. In this Epistle Nostradamus predicts the French (1792) and Russian Revolution (Octobre), the Coming of the Antichrist etcetera... But you can't possibly interpret this prophetic text as a Doomsday 2012 Scenario.

Nostradamus' quatrains can be applied to almost anything. I don't see what all the fuss is and why everybody is so intrigued with him, it all depends on the readers interpretation.

The problem with Nostradamus is the first of all he is very cryptic, even in french and his use of homophones is notorious (a homophone is a word that is pronounced the same as another word but differs in meaning. The words may be spelled the same, such as rose (flower) and rose (past tense of "rise"), or differently, such as carat, caret, and carrot, or to, two and too.).

Like stated by odds022, everything Nostradamus has written, is based upon interpretation, which means that the translations are also based on the interpretation of the translator. Since 10 people can have 10 different interpretations, it's a problem as such.

The only person that can actually say what he meant, was Nostradamus himself and since he's passed the river Stix, trying to interpret his quatrains is pretty futile. They can be interpreted to suit almost anything.

yeah, the first 2 responses sums it up. the quatrains can be interpreted any way you want, Nostradomus didnt actually predict anything. people work around what he said to make it fit.
