my_psychosis Posted May 22, 2011 #101 Share Posted May 22, 2011 I have a few hobbies like cooking, reading, and video games, but I guess my 2 weirdest would be I love to watch really bad scary movies, I mean real bad. They make me laugh. I just watched "They live" last night. My other is I love to do surveys. I dont care what its about. It can be about cheese, cookies, paper towels, or cat litter. I dont care, I just love surveys.
Indiogene Posted May 22, 2011 #102 Share Posted May 22, 2011 (edited) TV network bumpers (and collections available on YT), from a wide number of countries and their TV channels have artistic artwork departments to make them. The Italian network RAIUNO is notably well-renowned since Italy itself is grandeur in making art, music and media. Even the high artistic style used on short TV bumpers accompany commercial breaks or "Pubblicitas." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Us5zoMZe-Jw&feature=related Edited May 22, 2011 by Makoto Jupiter
arglebargle Posted May 23, 2011 #103 Share Posted May 23, 2011 Watching bad movies with friends about once a week, give or take. Used to create crystal gardens using recrystallization. Imagining myself as a character in whatever work of fiction I happen to be reading/playing/watching at the time, and imagining what I could accomplish by doing the right things at the right times, and how the effects would ripple through the story. I used to worship trash-cans with my cousin and another friend of ours when I was younger, the reasoning being: since there are people in this world who don't have homes, why do we build homes for garbage? Garbage is probably magical and we should bow before it on every occasion.

Indiogene Posted May 31, 2011 #105 Share Posted May 31, 2011 (edited) Edit from previous post: RAI starting/ending of transmission and between-shows bumper, it is common to find national expressions of pride in many countries' TV networks. Noticed the Italian flag is based on the French Tricolor, but it came from French Emperor Napoleon's idea of a flag with his fave color Green to substitute for blue. He was born in Corsica, whom are of Italic origin and the island was part of France since 1769. Edited May 31, 2011 by Makoto Jupiter
Indiogene Posted June 10, 2011 #106 Share Posted June 10, 2011 (edited) Now time to discuss an avid fascination with postal zip codes and telephone area codes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NANP_area_codes#700 Example of the super-long article enlisted them one by one, but take a shortcut to the 700's and here you find my 760 represents the California Desert and parts of the Inland Empire, Cal. and San Diego area. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_California_area_codes California has a total of 30-32(?) telephone area codes, the most of any state. Formerly it was 213 since the area code system started after WWII (1945) when long distance calling service was pefected, then it was part of 714 (Orange County, San Diego and Riverside) in the 1960s and 70s and 619 (for San Diego) in the mid 1980s to mid 1990s. In around 1990, the Riverside area got 909 and around 2000, it got 951 while 909 still is for the San Bernardino area. 760 is the largest area code in the contiguous US, while 907 of Alaska is the true largest and 780 for Canada covers the sparsely populated Arctic region (Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut). I have Holly Hobbie to Twisted Sister. Easter, Christmas, halloween, etc. And a lot of the Garbage pail kid stickers. I have a sticker for dang near everything. Prigget Posted July 9, 2011 #110 Share Posted July 9, 2011 I have about 40 empty notebooks and every night I sit down and plan something. No one has ever seen my every-day checklist book. Don't know why, I guess it's just for me to think of all the things I do every day. I also listen to classic music.. no one knows, because it's a bit odd for a 16-year old to be so old fashioned ; D

Indiogene Posted August 21, 2011 #112 Share Posted August 21, 2011 (edited) Back to TV channels, this is local from the Palm Springs area, a videotaped commercial break from KESQ TV channel 3 (ABC network affiliate) from...way back 25 years ago...in Dec. 1986! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pC4Up0DhxTM My own parents have a similar one from KMIR TV channel 6...from May 1986 a special documentary on NBC about missing people: about her disappeared family friend, Jim Nestor in the Morongo Basin to the north of us...he was bounty hunting for a rash of vanished people, esp. a 5 year old child in the area, and after 3 years of aerial searches, Jim Nestor found dead in a dry lake after investigation with the arrested suspects. (read my first-and-2nd comment below the video, click the link). I was on TV when I was age 8 with the KESQ news in a 1988 school Christmas party. Now to ask my mother where the videos are. black dahlia 83 Posted August 22, 2011 #113 Share Posted August 22, 2011 I like going to Historical Cemeteries. I go to walk around and read the headstones. Sometimes if they interest me I'll research it a bit more and take some pics. But I really like the history of the people who are buried there. When we go out bush and I see a Cemetery I always pull over and have a wander around. I'm lucky enough not to live too far from Toowong Cemetery in Brisbane, It was the first official Cemetery in Queensland and a lot of important people are buried there. A few of my own relatives too which I only found out about a year ago. It is HUGE and very very hilly. And divided up into classes/ religions etc, which is interesting in itself. Unfortuantly my husband doesn't share my enthusiasm so I don't as much as I used to.
Taun Posted August 22, 2011 #114 Share Posted August 22, 2011 I don't know if this counts as a 'hobby' or not... but I love maps... Particularly old maps... I like finding maps of the same basic area, over time and seeing how 'things have developed'... as well as following political changes over the years... Military History maps are also interesting and I used to have a set of (most of) the "West Point Atlas"... It would get my attention for hours at a time... Indiogene Posted August 24, 2011 #115 Share Posted August 24, 2011 Taun, you found another fan when it comes to maps, including old and historic maps. :-D Another hobby is mine is radio stations, examples are two videos featured sample of L.A. Metro Area/Southern California stations. KDES is from Palm Springs (my hometown), so far the only (oldest?) now defunct radio station in the desert communities he can find. MissMelsWell Posted August 25, 2011 #116 Share Posted August 25, 2011 I restore, colorize, and animate stereo card photographs from the 1800s and early 1900s. At least when I can find the time... (example) I've never seen anyone else make these, but I would love to see other people doing them. It's a little complicated, but if any photoshop buffs are willing to try it out, I'd be glad to help them along. Oh wow! I had a neighbor about 15 years ago that did the same thing! He had boxes and boxes of those things! They were pretty neat!

They were pretty neat! I would LOVE to go through something like that!! Did he animate them too? Below is my favorite. She has so much personality, this was taken at the height of the Civil War in Virginia. People always tell me she's creepy and I could never figure out why. Then today someone on deviantart told me her skin looks deathly pale.... I think that's probably what makes people creeped out by her:

Indiogene Posted October 4, 2011 #120 Share Posted October 4, 2011 (edited) Happy German Reunification Day, Deutscheland. I like to share 3 German TV bumpers, the ARD network is not one federally-operated channel unlike the BBC, CBC or NHK Japan for example, they are state government-run entities in the Landers or states in Germany, including the reunification acquired the former East German TV networks whom were able to view ARD from West Berlin or neighboring Western states such as Hesse (hr) right smack in the middle of the two Germanies, the NDR also available in Denmark, Sweden and Holland at times, and the BR or Bavaria can reach border towns of Austria and Switzerland. East German television 2 months after reunification before its' final day on Christmas 1990. Edited October 4, 2011 by DeMikeDe

Indiogene Posted October 9, 2011 #122 Share Posted October 9, 2011 (edited) Here's more of my obscure hobby on Radio and TV stations. I have two radio station Antena3 (later Sinfo Radio FM in the 1990s/2000s) bumpers from Sevilla, Spain circa 1985 (notice the audio can sound garbled on 10% of the sound clip). I'm unsure the station was AM (or MW in Europe) or FM dial, but I guess Antena3 sound clips was on Shortwave (was received across Europe, the Middle East and South Asia, and the western hemisphere) or Longwave transmissions many European radio networks are on. asc.rudeboy Posted October 9, 2011 #123 Share Posted October 9, 2011 every now and then i write up reviews for things. they'e pretty good, pretty funny, and they're one of the few things i can write and not think it sucks. i'll review pretty much anything, i get THAT bored <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/forum/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='ohmy.gif' /><!--endemo--> that's really the strangest thing i can think of...other than collecting old weapons <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/forum/html/emoticons/devil.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='devil.gif' /><!--endemo--> they have tons of websites devoted to that very thing, members of the forum review everything and anything. might look into joining a community of reviewers.i will often read user reviews before i buy most things. <!--QuoteBegin-janielsenj666+Jul 14 2004, 04:22 AM--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (janielsenj666 @ Jul 14 2004, 04:22 AM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> i dunno if you browse much but if you did you would find that i like to drink my friends' blood <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> I read. And frankly, I don't think that's obscure at all. Two reasons: 1. Until you have proof of something as silly as that, I don't believe you. 2. I drink blood, too. Just not other people's. I've always loved the taste of copper. <!--QuoteBegin-Janiel+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Janiel)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->there is nothing compared to a kitana and lots of stealth...<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> One word. Silencer. Sure, they only last for about a clip and reduce accuracy, but a gun will always outmatch a sword. umm why do you think they only last for a "clip",(magazine) and you loose very little to no accuracy,a average shooter wouldnt even notice. Some http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suppressor "modern suppressors using steel or high-temperature alloy baffles can endure extended periods of fully automatic fire without damage. The highest-quality rifle suppressors available today have a claimed service life of greater than 30,000 rounds" now thats not to say they loose effectiveness and need to be cleaned to perform at optimum.besides that they are really fun to shoot and sound nothing like the movies. as you can see guns are one of my hobbies, as well as collecting zippos and shot glasses. i tend to make list's of survival supplies and prep goods,i tend to organize and reorganize supplies for no reason,i pack supply bags for me and the family just to unpack them and try again for the perfect combination (i know it dfosnt exist but i try any way) i also get tattooed working on a suit. i get all kind of fun looks at PTA meetings. Indiogene Posted October 17, 2011 #125 Share Posted October 17, 2011 And the French TF1 network in the late 70s/early 80s has played a funky disco style ouverture (intro) and fermeture (sign off). The first is a rainbow scheme, or should I say live from "le Gaye Paree" and the later has some soul to it, mood music. (LOL!)
