Aztecs had el dorado Mexico still had it when cortez left the city under one fallen ruin was a temple dedicated to the moon only one side was covered years later they dug it out to find that side was coated in a gold color. they didnt use real gold! my great grandmother was one of few Aztecs left and this story was passed through generations. she died 2 years ago. wearing a ceremonial dress and everything.
