Why brave? Didn't they stop hanging for the jokes??? I thought Saddam was the last!

Besides it is true, it's called Jewish Autonomous Republic or Birobidjan, despite at the moment there is not too many Jews in it (although some live there). Good agricultural lands and plenty of water, nice fishing and hunting opportunity, comparatively mild climate.

EDIT - here's their flag I think it exists since 1930s, Stalin was inviting all Jews of the world to re-settle there.
