Space Commander Travis Posted February 7, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 7, 2010 um...i don't think the port of Dover owns the cliffs, exactly... and I don't know whether it's all of France that they're thinking of selling it to, or just some french company or business... but why let such things get in the way of a good ol' bit of Daily Mail Euro-hatred, eh? GreyWeather Posted February 7, 2010 #4 Share Posted February 7, 2010 (edited) They're not selling the White cliffs of Dover... The title is not-misleading, but entirely false. The company that owns the port is being auctioned off. Just like electricity boards and gas companies were sold to foreign powers. Edit: Reffering to the website - title. NightMoon Posted February 8, 2010 #8 Share Posted February 8, 2010 Sensationalism is what it is. Dig deeper and you'll find something very boring and logical. I can hear the old shouting in panic because they've only read the headline!
Corp Posted February 8, 2010 #9 Share Posted February 8, 2010 More and more I'm thinking that the Daily Mail is little more than a rag that shouldn't be taken very seriously.
stevewinn Posted February 8, 2010 #10 Share Posted February 8, 2010 what people should remember is that the Port of Dover, is not the governments to sell its ours the peoples. am getting cheesed off with the government, every single asset collectively is that of the people. the government has no money no assets nothing. its ours yet they do what they like with it all. and has per-usual they'll make a balls-up.
