White Cliffs of Dover to be sold to France to

Still Waters

Recommended Posts

For generations the White Cliffs of Dover have stood as a symbol of indomitable British pride.

But now Dover is up for sale and the leading bidder has been revealed to be an age-old enemy - France.

The Port of Dover is one of a string of publicly owned assets which have been earmarked for privatisation as the Government battles with a record £830billion of national debt.

Its advisers have recommended selling Dover to France as 'a very logical move', but the plan has prompted outrage.

um...i don't think the port of Dover owns the cliffs, exactly... and I don't know whether it's all of France that they're thinking of selling it to, or just some french company or business... but why let such things get in the way of a good ol' bit of Daily Mail Euro-hatred, eh?

They're not selling the White cliffs of Dover... The title is not-misleading, but entirely false.

The company that owns the port is being auctioned off. Just like electricity boards and gas companies were sold to foreign powers.

Edit: Reffering to the website - title.

Sensationalism is what it is. Dig deeper and you'll find something very boring and logical. I can hear the old shouting in panic because they've only read the headline!

what people should remember is that the Port of Dover, is not the governments to sell its ours the peoples. am getting cheesed off with the government, every single asset collectively is that of the people. the government has no money no assets nothing. its ours yet they do what they like with it all. and has per-usual they'll make a balls-up.
