BBC presenter Ray Gosling arrested for murder after admitting mercy killing of gay lover suffering from Aids

The veteran BBC presenter who told TV viewers that he carried out a mercy killing on a former lover suffering from Aids was arrested today.

Award-winning documentary maker Ray Gosling, 70, was detained by police after telling viewers that he smothered his unnamed partner as he lay dying in hospital.

A police spokeswoman said: 'Nottinghamshire Police has this morning arrested a 70-year-old Nottingham man on suspicion of murder following comments on the BBC's Inside Out programme on Monday evening.'
