Still Waters Posted February 17, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2010 Gardeners all around Britain are receiving a nasty surprise when the snow melts to reveal their lawns have turned pink.Gardens from Surrey to Scotland have been ruined by snow mould in the worst outbreak of the fungal disease for more than 20 years. The fungus naturally exists on many lawns without causing any problems.But when it is trapped under a blanket of snow, it starts to thrive in the cosy conditions. Patches of grass rapidly die but the characteristic candy-floss pink or grey blotches only come to light when the snow melts. Read more... So this is why my garden is full of grey blotches!! Bummer, you'll have to get fungicide and wait for Spring when grass seeds from other peoples' lawns sprouts on your ground. . . or buy grass seed then and plant it, if every yard gets killed like this.
