14-year-old dies after exorcism

A 14-year-old girl has died after neighbours and a local pastor tried to treat her convulsions with an exorcism at a church.

Sangeeta Persaud began to have convulsions as she was drinking tea for breakfast at her grandmother's home in Canal Number Two, a farming village west of the capital of Guyana, the grandmother told the Stabroek News and Guyana Chronicle.

The woman said neighbours arrived to help, and a local pastor convinced them she was suffering from demonic possession. After trying to cast out the demons at her home, the grandmother and other witnesses told the newspapers, neighbors carried her to a church, where the pastor and aides rubbed or pounded on her stomach and had her drink lime juice.

She was finally taken to a hospital, where she died, Police Commander Colin West said Friday. Results from a preliminary autopsy were inconclusive

It could have been the wrong moment to go for exorcism, they probably didn't know what ailed her, and nor did the doctors, obviously.

The title here is a fair bit misleading, she might well have died anyhow.

Every single one of them including that idiot pastor.. all should be charged...

Here is why they all need to be charged.. especially that pastor...

The girl was said to be suffering convulsions...... usually a result of a head injury..... not some made up demon possession...

What are Convulsions?

Convulsion is an episode of abnormal violent and involuntary contraction of the muscle movements. Convulsion rarely last more than a few minutes and are extremely different in their manifestations. They occur when brain cells become too active and disorganized in their electrical properties. The characteristic of the seizures are determined by the site of origin of the abnormal brain discharge and the rapidity and extent to which the discharge spreads throughout the rest of the brain.

Causes of Convulsive seizures:

Convulsive seizures occur in a variety of conditions and diseases involving the nervous system and other organs of the body. In some individuals who is experiences recurring seizures the exact nature of the underlying disease is not known, while in others, seizures have been associated with tumors, blood vessel abnormalities, disturbances in brain metabolism, brain scars, and other conditions. Traditionally, the term "epilepsy" is being use to describe the illness suffered by those with recurrent seizures.

Now either that girl was suffering from a head injury or she might have had epilepsy..........I have known people to suffer from convulsions for a few moments due to a head injury.. its more common... and they call a freaking pastor? he pounds her stomach and tips lime juice down her throat... what a moronangry.gif

He should be fully charged. as he has NO way of proving there was a demon......... this p*sses me off. I have now lost count how many kids are killed due to some half wit claiming demons and possession... whata load of old cobblers

They need to be charged.they took her to a church instead of a hospital where she could have been saved.. or at least given a chance. just like those parents that get charged when they deny their child medial help

Anyone that does this to a child is pure EVIL...and I hope they all get a rather large dose of KARMA
