You've probably missed the whole point of the religion if you think that.

A person can be gay and Christian if they so desire. However, religion is a choice, being gay is not. (Also, the part of the bible that mentions being gay as being wrong has a lot of other trivial rules that you yourself probably don't follow, so don't act high and mighty over one brief reference.)

As to the topic, you are forgetting that this is about rights. Up until now a stranger has had more of a right then the gay or lesbian partner of a parent. This is wrong, because that's acting like they're family isn't a real one (which it is). You may think that gay people have no right to raise a child, but think of it like this: hetrosexuals can have one at the drop of a hat and that child could be unloved, unwanted or even a burden. If a gay couple has a child, then they have often fought for it. In a sense, gay parents are better then some straight ones, purely on the basis that they have to really want a child to get one.

Please don't automatically demonise them just because they happen to be gay.

So let me get this straight (ironic wording, I know) the part of the bible that mentions it mentions it briefly in one passage. Tell me, do you follow what else it says there? Do you also believe it's ok to have slaves? Becuase the bible says you should. Do you also believe that women should be treated as property and nothing more? Because it says that too.

The words of the bible were relevent to society back then (a full 2000 years ago). Times have changed. Also, the version we're using now has gone through so many translations that I'm sure bits are wrong. However, the main message of the religion, as I understand it, is to love thy neighbor and not to judge lest ye yourself be judged and to generally be a good person. If you think your religion gives you the right to look at others and say 'that's an abomination' then I'm sorry, but you're wrong and your religion even tells you so. Stop hiding behind your religion when it''s meant to be that 'god' loves everyone.

I'm sure you going would be no real loss, but Iran may not be the best place to go.

Okay, this is world events and current affairs, if you want to dig into the religious roots of the subject, it would probably be better to start it's own thread in the appropriate forum, but above all, here or there, let's keep things civil, please.

I believe in relationships where the woman takes on a more traditional role.

I also think its okay to take criminals and peoples who your nation has conquered as slaves.

You and Alien are both assuming that just because someone is gay that they aren't religious/Christians. I happen to know that very many are...including my nephew. Painting believers with such a broad brush is no better than the stereotypes that people have about gays. People don't want to be "tolerated" they want to be accepted for who they are.

I think you have the wrong idea about me... I know many MANY gay people. And many of them are very spiritual, some really want to go to church but are cast out because of their sexual orientation. When it comes to prejudices of gays it is almost always the Christian right that is doing it, or it is someone who will justify their hate because it says its wrong in the bible. Seen this trend repeat its self through out 3 different states, and many cities so my brush is not really that broad. Understand that I am not talking about or stereotyping all Christians here. There are those who are very tolerant of the gay lifestyle. You cannot make someone accept a lifestyle, but you can teach them how to live with it peacefully. And Im definitely not stereotyping gays, but I suppose I am stereotyping bigots.

I do think our younsters should be protected from the influences of homosexuals and lesbians.

If they're adults and make that choice then thats one thing but the danger is a gay couple may force their way of life and opinions onto the child leading to psychological and spiritual damage.

Being brought up by two men or women is not a normal family environment. If both your parents are female how do you learn the skills to enable decent productive friendly relations with men? What about other things the child usually picks up from the fathers like confidence? I'm sorry but this just has dysfunctional written all over it.

Do you have any proof of gay couples inducing psychological and spiritual damage on children?

Who are you to say what is normal? How many households have you been in exactly? I have been in many, and all of them were different. Also so a kid has a dad and mom, so what? There are many dads and moms are abusive absent alcoholics, who never what a child in the first place, that’s not dysfunctional at all. At least these couples are planning their parenthood, that more than I can say for most. I know of two men who are all but married, they have been together for over 30 years. They are very happy, and very functional. Most hetro marriages don’t last even 1 year.

And last... it takes a village to raise a child, and like it or not that’s what happens in the US. Unless you live a very secluded and sheltered life, your child will grow up being influenced by other family members, (even lesbians and gays have fathers, mothers, cousins and uncles and Aunts), by friends, by the media, by teachers, mentors, books, music.....etc. You need to expand your central world view.

*sighs*

If a woman wants to have the traditional role, that's fine, but a lot of women don't do that anymore.

Again, however, you ignore both my main point and the main ideals of your religion.

It seems that you're stuck in the past and I actually feel sorry for you for it.

Good job I'm not American then (and that the article this post's about isn't either).

It's also interesting you missed the main point of what you replied to. It's something I notice a lot with hoomophobes.

I'm not a homophobe as its not a fear of homosexuals I have.

I'm not sexist either as everybody knows women allow 'how they feel' to influence their choices and how they behave. You dont believe me then go find a moody woman and see what reaction you get if you ask her something. When they feel moody their morals go out the window which is a very good reason why women should never be allowed to become managers or hold any power.

Homophobia is fear or hatred. As always ask, then what do you suggest happens to people who are gay? You clearly don't like them nor want them to have the same rights.

You say you're not sexiest then say something like that.

Whoa, first no one ever called you sexist, BUT that statement IS sexist.

Definition as per Wiki

Sexism, a term coined in the mid-20th century,[1] is the belief or attitude that one gender or sex is inferior to, less competent, or less valuable than the other. It can also refer to hatred of, or prejudice towards, either sex as a whole (see misogyny and misandry), or the application of stereotypes of masculinity in relation to men, or of femininity in relation to women.[2] It is also called male and female chauvinism.

Man and woman are not the same and are specialised for differant roles so to claim that both sexes are competant at the same things is dellusional. Man is the hunter, the leader, the authoritarian figure. Women are the child bearers and carers. However their ability to become emotional at the slightest things can cause problems which is why I stated they shouldnt hold any positions of responsibility.

While I may not agree fully with Alien Being .... he does raise points that are true.

At the end of the day every human is still just an animal on earth.

We eat, sleep, work for money to entertain us and to procreate.

This is our life cycle.

Lets not forget that the people who are offering taxes in exchange for forced socialism.... er... fascism are only in it for themselves.

In order to complete their take over they need cooperation from everybody - without cooperation their dream of complete control ends tomorrow.

And once it ends, the men who designed this take over are over too.

Their dream is done.

Its not about giving everybody humanitarian rights and respecting each persons right to choose whats best for them.

Its about attacking anybody who doesn't agree with their deceptive proposals and forcing everybody to obey their engineered economic system.

The largest corporations on the planet do not want to give up what they have developed using the same system(free-market) to gain power and than using the idea that that system is now no good.

They say this because they would crash and burn under the weight of trying to prop up large company's in a world economy that changes daily.

The choice is each persons to choose whats best for them - not whats in the best interest of people whose business is their and theirs only.

Man and woman are different, yes. and specialized for different roles, true …men cant bear children and women cannot bear children without the help(sperm) of a man. But thats where it ends.I think you are delusional if you dont think that a woman cannot be a hunter, leader or an authoritarian figure. Spend some time around a Rodeo and youll change your mind quickly. Also Men such as myself, are very good caretakers, of children, animals, plants, or the sick and elderly. And your last statement is just completely sexist I cannot even comment.

Duality is a threat to the Liberals as it stops materialism and atheism in its tracks.

However the current order has dumbed down society to the point they believe we live in a clockwork universe where people are nothing more than complex machines. Now dont get me wrong Issac Newton was a great scientist in his time but for Christs sake those views are over 300 years old. Quantum Mechanics has been arounf for 100 years and proves duality.

I think I know whats up and I agree. Its all about taxes and corporate profits.

All gay people want is a chance to be happy, that's why they company for adoption rights, marriage rights and stuff like this. I don't see how it harms anyone else in any way.

However, people that are anti-gay generally tend to be violent in their methods, even to the point of killing.
