Still Waters Posted May 22, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2010 The world's first battery fuelled by air - with 10 times the storage capacity of conventional cells - has been unveiled. Scientists say the revolutionary 'STAIR' (St Andrews Air) battery could now pave the way for a new generation of electric cars, laptops and mobile phones. The cells are charged in a traditional way but as power is used or 'discharged' an open mesh section of battery draws in oxygen from the surrounding air. This oxygen reacts with a porous carbon component inside the battery, which creates more energy and helps to continually 'charge' the cell as it is being discharged. Read more... SRCivic98 Posted May 22, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2010 isn't that called a windmill? just kidding. but it sounds more like they've taken the idea of fire's way of burning energy and making energy.
puridalan Posted May 22, 2010 #3 Share Posted May 22, 2010 Energy can be neither created nor destroyed ...starts using mind powers to fuel battery...hell it's only a matter of years (snickers) or should I say don't be an air-head!
