The Silver Thong Posted May 27, 2010 #176 Share Posted May 27, 2010 So does smoking and drinking alcohol but you don't see anybody complaining about that do you? The kids are fat because they are lazy, not because they were forced to eat McDonalds. Well to be fair not to many companies advert to kids in regards to smoking and booze. Many kids are forced to eat the cheap food at McDonalds due to lazy, bad habits and economics. If mom and dad can't afford a good home cooked meal or are forced to work shift work in odd shifts fast food does become the answer to many. It's economics mostly I think but could be wrong. It's a damn good thing guys didn't become addicted to things pink because of Barbie...... oh wait a second we did LOL Child advertising really has become a cut throat industry, really it has and it's a parents nightmare for many. I took care of that in my theory that kids now control the parents so I had none. Is that good? we will see if the Canadian pension plan still is around in 20 years Edited May 27, 2010 by The Silver Thong

If I had a child people would accuse me of being cruel for not bending to their every whim.
ohio state buckeyes Posted May 27, 2010 Author #180 Share Posted May 27, 2010 Ohio State Buckeyes...... I encourage you to take your focus off of McDonalds , and other chains.... I am guessing you are in the USA , start doing research on what the public schools offer for foods to kids....And remember , only option is do not eat , or bring a brown bag lunch ( wonder what would be in that).....Anyway , McDonalds and other chains are there to make money , not to make everyone happy....As said , look at the schools menu's , than I think you will have a valid argument that I would agree with..... In ohio pop has been removed for school lunch rooms and school lunches at schools at lest in the cities are getting more healthy.

Economics aren't really that much to blame. McDonalds costs a lot down here and there are just as other cheap foods out there which are as bad, if not worse than MD's. What I think it boils down to is that a kid eats McDonalds for lunch right, but then decides not to go out and play sport or something simply because it will mean they have to get up and do some excercise which to them would be the equivalent of performing witchcraft in front of the Pope. In other words, computers and Playstations and the lack of excercise in general is more to blame than simply eating McDonalds. I eat Md's quite a bit, but I don't weigh the same as a hippopotamus nor have an aversion to excercise. I'm not addicted or anything either and when I see an Md's ad, I'm not compelled to go out and stuff my face with a Big Mac.

SilverCougar Posted May 28, 2010 #184 Share Posted May 28, 2010 If you want to really know, even some of the fruits and veggies arn't that good for you. If you look up a company called Monsanto you will see just how messed up that idustry is as well. Our food supply is very suspect to being a poison in itself no matter what it is. But ya, have a potato or corn on the cob just not in a single serving bag of death This is why I love this co-op farm out here. for 30 bucks a week, we get a box of organic fruits and veggies. Also they have a green grocer where we can get the other staples.. all organic as well. and I know some people will go on about how organic means nothing.. yadda yadda.. It's actually alot cheaper to get these healthy foods from this co-op then the supermarket. And yes, I can get meats, eggs, milks.. grains breads.. Alot better and cheaper then takeing your kids to McD's. (and I worked at McD's as a teenager.. it is *not* a fun happy enviroment either.. atleast not at the one I was at. I still get nightmares from my time there.)
