Radian Posted September 27, 2006 #51 Share Posted September 27, 2006 Exactly what i was thinking. I just don't know how to get out of it now. Like i said i intended to go check out the house someday (i haden't set a date or time) but i simply wanted to see the house for myself just to face my fear and to maybe snap a few quick pictures from within my car and that's it. Nothing more nothing less. It's not that you'd be facing [your] fear....A justified fear is not the same thing as facing a personal fear.
bLu3 de 3n3rgy Posted September 27, 2006 #52 Share Posted September 27, 2006 Facing fear of the unknown? It's built into us to fear it, it's natural to feel uneasy or afraid when presented with something happening around us to which we don't know or understand. It's a survival instinct. Just sitting in a pitch dark room is enough to get it going. But when it comes to the paranormal, the way in which you fear and cope with that depends on many things. Firstly your deep rooted beliefs... Do you potenially see spirits as a positive or negitive thing? Do you fear getting hurt by them? Do you know how to protect yourself if you needed to? Different people with give different answers to these questions....IMO it's all down to how one interprets a situation. Tool yourself up with the correct knowledge, don't meddle with it alone (safety in numbers) we do just feel automatically braver and less vulernable when with others because we are social beings, instinctive again....Practise sitting in dark places and doing nothing, let your senses adapt and learn that everything is experienced differently in that way..... jecht Posted October 3, 2006 #56 Share Posted October 3, 2006 I live about 10 minutes away from west pittston and I lived there when all of that sh** was going on I was only a couple of years old but my sister was 17.. my sister went to school with dawn and her father was my sisters soft ball coach..when all of this was going on dawn told my sister that she had a dream my sister was in a car accident..less than a week later my sister totalled her car. My uncle was a member of the west pittston police department at the time also and he was always down on chase street. He said he always had a bad feeling about the place. Many neighbors also reported hearing things coming from the house when no one was home. I believe it's real. they moved out in '89, after the book came out 11/88. then they said the demons don't bother them at their new home, some 8 miles away. i thought the book had ed telling them the demon would follow them even if they moved far away. not saying it's a hoax, but... what do current owners and past owners post-1990 say? it looks like nothing's going on there now. the kid who went to see it and felt nothing might be right. there might be nothing there as of 2006. demons/etc. operate on a different time frame. it could've been ley lines or simply girls being in puberty attracting demons. when the last girl turned 14 or 15 the demonic activity might've ceased because the energy ran out. i was told the police were never notified of chase street problems. jecht Posted October 3, 2006 #57 Share Posted October 3, 2006 Warrens = demons = BS = just my opinion.... The case may have been extra complicated by productive external energies of the family members combined with right conditions, wonder if the house was built over ley/earth energy lines.... some say amityville was built over ley lines. the area in pa has mine veins that are honeycombed underneath the ground. in the haunted it says a 800-year-old skull was unearthed beneath the house. there's a lot of houses that look like that nearby. it's just unfortunate it had to happen to the smurls, if it's the truth. i've heard some second-hand stories about things happening, but i've also heard good hoax possibliities too. check out the csicop website. dogtear1 Posted January 13, 2007 #58 Share Posted January 13, 2007 (edited) I don't know the family, their mental status, or medication that they're taking(if any). The father Jack, did have brain surgery. I also live 10-15 minutes away from W.P., and when all that went down, I parked near the house and I didn't see or hear anything unusual. I spoke to neighbors, close friends of the famil who didn't provide me with any pertinent info. If there is NO good supporting direct evidence of any GHOSTs, it didn't happen. If there's NO proof of GHOST activity, just speculation and only individual family accounts of what happened, IT's NOT TRUE. Of all the POLTERGEIST cases worldwide, such as Amityville which was determined later to be a hoax$$$, there are NO authentic photographs or video footage of ghosts, NO independent witness(es), etc. Therefore, I can't believe any of this one bit. I don't believe anything unless I personally research it thoroughly to validate my own findings, and corroborate it by someone else. Otherwise, I'd be gullible fool believing in every unexplained matter. I SAY PROVE IT.....if it can't be explained scientifically, it isn't so. adidasfiend Posted November 29, 2007 #59 Share Posted November 29, 2007 Growing up, my brother dated Dawn. Many times i was at the house. I'm the same as Carin and Shannon. During the whole "haunted period" I visited the home about 3 times. My brother had broken up with dawn prior yet were still friends. Each time was normal. I was little and wasn't looking for anything. I was just looking to hang out with my childhood friends. But i wasnt there overnight, nor there alone. The basement was creepy though. Then again what basement isnt creepy when you are 6. My brother on the otherhand experienced feelings like someone watching him, cold pockets, and general malease. But is that fear and paranoia or something paranormal? After the Smurls moved, my friends and I would skateboard at the grocery store right up the street from the house and we would skate in front of the home. Nothing then either. During my high school years i reconnetted with the twins and became good friends with Carin through work. These girls were harassed horribly growing up. During basketball games the other teams would make spooky oohs and boo noises. The family are really nice folks and if anything happened at their georgetown address no one ever mentioned it. I have sinced moved away and lost contact with them about 6 years ago. Do i believe them, yes. I think there was something in the home. Do i think the warrens manipulated them? Yes but the family is too proud to admit it. I look in time to time to see what else has been written. I think its quite cool that i was so close to something that "semi-famous". And i'm certain this story will last long after I've passed. on a side note. Reading this forum as well as others. I laugh at the amount of skeptics that frequent these sites. It seems as though there is a profound need to be contrary and down playing everything as a hoax. And without scientific evidence then it can't be true. Why even bother coming to the site and posting contrarily. I guess its just the internet phenonmena.
