A bit of prose.

Daughter of the Nine Moons

Jew, Arab, Black, White.

Such divisions among us.

Liberal, Democrat, Socialist, Republican.

Don’t you all realize

How hate damages the psyche?

Obsession, Derision, Terror, Fear.

The crap that you spew.

Cynicism reigns supreme.

Young men and women going to war

Just sickens me.

Fists and guns.

Generations growing up on nothing but hate.

I want to see a world

Where my child and yours

Can run and play happily in the park.

I want to hear laughter and giggles.

I want to see compassion and kindness.

I want to see your hand reaching to help someone up (not push them down).

I want hope.

I want a happy ending.

I long for peace.

Thanks everybody. I was in a blue funk that day, because the night before I had been talking to a young man who was going to to fight in a war. All that I could think was that he should instead be going to university, dating, falling in love. I hope he stays safe.

Dot ,

you inspired me to finish a poem I had started the other day original.gif Here goes ...

.. Kismit's poem..

The girl climbed up on to her box ,

pushed back her curls ,

and fixed her socks.

'Ahem', she said ,

'are you aware?',

'The trouble we have started here' .

'The snake who bit us on the ****' ,

'has slithered off into the grass'.

'Out of sight and out of mind' ,

'When hanging would have been too kind!'

She glanced around at the tempered faces ,

tidied her bow ,

and checked her laces .

then back to her speech , she said a-loud ,

' Our General appears too proud '.

'For while his busy catching Vermin',

( a hole , a hole , to hide them all in )

'the snake has gone ',

'his got away'.

'To hunt and kill and maim , his prey '.

'The time we've spent just chasing rats',

'is time he will use to plan attacks' .

A tear rolled down the young girls cheek .

'Let's not forget the ones who sleep' .

'Lost in that last long cold dark night' ,

'unable to grieve and unable to fight' .

The crowd grew quiet ,

it made no sound.

Is this where peace is trully found ?

DOT- As a soldier myself, I'll be happy when my job is no longer required.

The reason I do my job is so that my three neices and my nephew may never have to do it. For that goal, I would willing risk myself.

Stewey- I do understand the necessity of war, but I still long for peace and the end of strife. Can you imagine what a wonderful world it would be if people devoted as much time to fixing and creating as opposed to tearing down and destroying. Oh well.

DOT- Peace would certainly give me more time to work on my writing and artwork... and working on improving my flirting skill. laugh.gif
