Still Waters Posted November 11, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2010 Extreme Muslim groups marred Armistice Day in London by burning a model poppy in protest against the wars of Iraq and Afghanistan. As millions of Britons fell silent to remember those who have died in war a small group of protesters calling themselves Muslims Against Crusades held a demonstration in Kensington, West London. Around 30 people gathered close to the junction of Exhibition Road and Kensington Road, adjacent to Hyde Park. About 50 counter demonstrators gathered nearby but the two sides were kept apart by police. Asad Ullah, of Muslims Against Crusades, said sparking violence "is not our intention" but added: "If it does, we are people who will defend our honour." He said: "We are demonstrating because this day is a day of remembrance to remember every single fallen soldier, including those killed in Afghanistan and Iraq. Read more... Or did they go there because they were sent there by the Govt. and didn't have much choice? Asad Ullah: Pillock.

rashore Posted November 11, 2010 #8 Share Posted November 11, 2010 wow, I didn't know the WBC has a Muslim chapter in London Sorry, had to say it. Those protesters have got to be as nuts as the WBC. Why do people have to get so hateful? It's just sick. I can understand if they aren't happy, but the whole burning stuff and signs wishing people to hell or other bad fates is just beyond the pale... Funky Poacher Posted November 11, 2010 #12 Share Posted November 11, 2010 Considering what's happened to the people over there at the hands of the soldiers, I don't blame them. It's a bloody flower, and a symbol, okay, that's fine: so they're protesting a symbol. Since this whole "war" has happened, they have been screwed around as a collective group so badly. Even Muslims not affiliated with this distasteful form of protesting are going to look bad. How about the soldiers get the hell out of Iraq? And all this "the soldiers didn't know where they were going"... they were soldiers. They don't have to think about where they're going, they just go. Or maybe they SHOULD have thought about what they might have to do before enlisting.

Eldorado Posted November 11, 2010 #14 Share Posted November 11, 2010 Funky, did you actually read the news items linked? It's not about a flower. They wanted to interrupt and disrupt a memorial service, but couldn't get near the cenotaph. Like one member has already stated, a bit like the Westboro Baptist Crazies disrupting a funeral. Except, if they'd succeeded in getting near the cenotaph they'd be protesting from hospital. Their protest was so popular among the 2 million British Muslims that there was "about 30" protesters. Logically, I can understand why Remembrance day would be chosen as a day for people who are protesting military, war, whatever to go do their stuff. Emotionally, I feel like smacking the snot out of each and every one of them for being hateful dillholes about it. To me, it's not the protest itself... It's the manner in which it was done. They could have had all their signs state their protest of the situation they are protesting, not generally damning centuries of people. They didn't need to burn anything. Seriously, usually starting fires on a public street/sidewalk is considered a general no-no. They could have stated their opinion without being so hateful and disrespectful about it. It's all that hate and disrespect and retaliatory hate and disrespect crap that helps radicals become radicals. Yuck.

They'd shoot there own grandmother to get to this country & as far away from the sh*thole of a country of there birth & yet when they're here they do everything they can to stir up trouble, hey, but then again free healthcare & the benefits system works in their favor, right. I'd put all these paedophile worshiping scum (& their nearest & dearest)on a rusty oil tanker point it at the north pole & weld the controls on full steam ahead. We don't need or want these 'people' they contribute nothing of any worth to our society & It's about time this government formed a covert group charged with the sole purpose of disposing of scum like this in a quiet manner, just make them disappear with no fuss. tyrant lizard Posted November 12, 2010 #21 Share Posted November 12, 2010 These idiots make me laugh. They live in a democratic country that allows them to protest, moaning about the very soldiers who fought for that democracy. If it was up to me I'd hang the lot of them for treason. Or failing that, if they love Afganistan so much why dont they go and live there and see how much of an improvement that is on their lives.
