While on the lam for 2½ years, a Japanese man wanted for the murder of a British woman says he scissored off his lower lip, dug two moles out of his cheek with a box cutter and gave himself a nose job in an attempt to obscure his identity.

That sounds horrible but I don't really see any difference. It just looks like he gained weight.

Hmmm, he does need to pay for his crimes, but I don't know, I get the impression he didn't mean to kill her? Anybody get that impression too?

An innocent man wouldn't try to cover his tracks, especially to such extremes like he did.

Never underestimate what one will do out of desperation. Seems extreme, but I suppose fear of the inevitable reckoning was stronger than the aversion to pain or remorse for his crime. Murderers must answer.
