Still Waters Posted February 11, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2011 The world's smallest engraving by human hand has been completed on the edge of a razor blade. Graham Short etched the motto "Nothing is impossible" which measures just a tenth of a millimetre. The letters are invisible to the naked eye, and can only be read with a medical microscope at 400 times magnification. It took Mr Short, 64, around 150 attempts before he was able to complete it. Engraving at such a level requires almost superhuman effort and dedication to remain completely still. Read more...
Robert1 Posted February 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2011 How wierd. What's the point of doing it if nobody can see it without the aid of a microscope? This guy must have some serious eye strain problems.

SHaYap Posted February 11, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2011 I wonder if that is an official world record ? miniature engravings boggles the mind and to see it with ones own eyes is even more impressive I've only seen the paintings on rice grains myself I find this very impressive too He swims 10,000 metres a day and can slow his heart rate to 30 beats a minute. The Wilkinson’s Sword blade is now available to buy, with a £47,500 price tag. Mistydawn Posted February 13, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 13, 2011 Jeepers! That's what I call dedication! Sitting still for so long before each etching, would drive me nuts!

:PsYKoTiC:BeHAvIoR: Posted February 13, 2011 #8 Share Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) That's extreme, but probably well worth it at the end. I mean, how many can say that they engraved something that cannot be read with the naked eye? cougarlazy Posted February 13, 2011 #9 Share Posted February 13, 2011 You are asking why this guy did it? It's up for sale at just under $100,000 dollars. How much did you earn recently? You are also asking what's the point if it can't be seen without the aid if a microscope? But it is set up under a microscope! Give the guy credit and respect for doing something we can't do.
