As long as it's only used for that inefficient ethanol I won't have any problems with it.

Genetically engineered corn? Oh no...those fools are going to be the death of us all! :o

But seriously, I don't think this'll help much. Oil is still a cash crop.

This is bad!!! It's Monsanto's roundup enzyme crops all over again. Everyone will think it's safe because it's only for Ethonol until it spreads and infects a crop and you cant tell the difference then it wipes out all natural forms of corn and we get stuck with this frankenstein corn that passes on frankenstein effects to everything.

Have we not learnt? Anyone attempting to justify this needs to first seriously look in to the history of a company called Monsanto.

Monsato strikes again.... unfortunately ... when one looks at the suicide rate of Indian farmers (India Indians that is)...

Actually it's more like StarLink where a GM corn was approved for animal use only and got mixed in with the human supply except this corn has been approved by the FDA for human consumption.

Actually, you'd be surprised on the amount of fruits and vegetables in our grocery isles that are genetically modified in some way. Corn is just another victim.

They never learn do they corn is for eating not for making fuel if they what it for fuel production use the parts that are eatable. That way we can kill to birds with one stone.

Monsanto all over again! Dangerous plants make it into our food as it is. Genetically modified corn is prevalent. However, if we make this happen, it will fertile food crops leading us to having this ethanol crossed food (and most of this goes to our meat animals too). Great, like the fact that Monsanto proved that genetically engineered plants can get in and fertilize and even outgrow other (food) species should be ignored? Eek! We don't know what kinds of genetic combination this will make.

Forget the corn, use hemp instead. Too bad it's illegal in the US due to corporate greed and corruption.

This corn does not contain ethanol. It produces an enzyme which is normally added to the corn to convert it to sugar and is FDA approved. This enzyme is already put in all kinds of food. Worst case scenario cross breeds and all our corn becomes soggy and sweeter.

That wouldn't happen. The second the corn made it into another farmers field, Monsanto would be all over them for patent infringement. Tis what they do. :w00t:

I'm impressed so many know about Monsanto and what they truly are.

Mother Nature has designed plants to reproduce. There is no way to prevent this new corn from hybrdizing with our corn. Eventually the wind will carry the pollen around, and that's that. Not even the Jolly Green Giant will be able to stop it!
