perhaps you can begin by stating what freedoms you think you have above any other country.

i'm an englishman...not american.

i've never even been to america.

i just understand what the constitution of the united states is, how it came to be and what it means.

you see jgirl - you've posted all your blather but can you name me a single area where americans have no freedom??

just 1 area that compares badly with anywhere else...

just another anti-american bandwagon jumper.

well, regardless of where you are from you seem to want to argue the point i made, which was that as long as a country is at war they are not free...but you didnt answer my question in any case. not surprised really

As far as China is concerned I see it as a great opportunity for nations to increase trade. China is a gold mine really.

I think China is more like modern Russia. We eye each other warily. The only difference is that China and the United States are "business buddies."

China is an enemy to human progress almost as much as the U.S. is, the ruling party having long abandoned any semblance of Socialism in practice or ideology. Is China an enemy to the U.S. itself? Maybe in so much as their growing prominence in world capitalism may hurt U.S. national pride.

Yep, my prediction turned out to be true. A massive anti-U.S. circle jerk has been created and it is about to reach climax...

The U.S. an enemy to human progress? I'm not even going to touch that because I know it is just hyperbole with no real substance behind it.

When will the world quit blaming America for all of THEIR problems? Maybe it is because we are like the popular, wealthy kid in school and people are jealous of what we are? To be honest, that seems like the basic psychology behind most America bashing.

The US is a bit under the scope for reason. Your prediction was seen by millions as when a nation creates war to perpetuate it's economy because it has no other means speaks volumes. The infrastructure of the US is a shamble, the leadership is a train wreck with nothing on the horizon that even come close to being better then what it is now.

The US a damper on society in general? Ya I would say so. However we need the US to bounce back and in fighting has made the most powerful nation on the planet the butt of many jokes. If the US can't hold themselves to a higher level then a grade 5 student and demands respect they better smarten up and clean house.

The US as of late looks like a mafia leader and we don't want that. For anyone in the US to call China the enemy they better shake there heads as they have no clue how dependent the US is on that nation. The States seems to be on a path of self destruction as no nation stands on it's own. The states wants to isolate themselves they better be willing to give up there stature as a world leader.

They first take away our industry and put people out of work. They then make us dependent on them for goods.

"They" did not take our jobs from us..it was our very own corporations that did that. Remember that thing called "NAFTA"? That was just one of the many proverbial death knells for our economy.

Our corporations wanted to make more money by paying workers less and not wanting to have to deal with things like environmental concerns or OSHA rules. China's people were willing to work for whatever wages they could get and since many are impoverished, they do whatever they have to do just to put a few scraps on the table.

They are just as much victims of a teetering governing system as we are.

I do not see China as my "enemy"..they are not out to get us and they are no better or worse than we are.

They have their problems as do we. However I do see their government slowly becoming more cognizant and vigilant about what is going on...they are not perfect and neither are we.

my comment is not juvenile, but your attitude is. unless you can tell me how it is that a country can be at war and still be free, you should probably stop talking to me about it.

only the public is being fed the lies about how "dangerous" and "evil" "China that will cripple" the US and how "China will make freedom disappear in the US"

China could care less

look at the big business sector and big corps stumbling shamelessly over themselves trying to get a foot into the "high stakes" Chinese economy, those that can't make it kicks up a fuss about "unfair practices" and starts with the spin machine churning out the rhetoric about "China the next evil world empire"

familiar ?

you guys here being fed these "news" are the suckers, go tell a bank you have a hundred grand to invest and see what they tell you to do with it ... you'll get a very different picture of what America thinks about China

so just to clarify:

*you believe that china has no questions to answer as regards human rights of it's own citizens?

*you believe that the presence of big business in china proves that china is a 'civilised' state?

their own citizens have their own rights and their own government need only answer to them and not anyone else

you attempt to pull a snake by the head and pretend you know where the tail is

you get poisoned and you blame the tail of the snake for not being in your hand

you know what your definition of "civilised" is ?

i disagree very strongly. a country and it's people cannot be free if they are at war. simple fact.

True. Nicely put.

you'd be speakin german right now if it wasn't for the septics.

fact.

Normally I'd be more polite but I'll answer in terms you might understand.

This is utter drivel.

1. No-one but the countries who do speak german would be speaking it even if we lost WWII. You might notice (if you actually look at history although it seems you don't), that none of the countries they occupied had to speak german.

2. This rather depends upon a) where the person you are adressing lives. Reading the profile info would tell you that Erix is in Italy - a country allied to Germany in WWII and b ) whether we would have lost if the US hadn't (finally) bothered to join in. The fact is, while the US were still reeling from pearl harbour, we'd already all but destroyed the German/Italian presence in North Africa.

Most of the victories won by the US in WWII were against Japan. The greatest contributors to Germany's defeat were Russia (you might not like it but it's true). They destroyed or tied down so many of Hitler's elite forces that many of the German soldiers on D day were boys or old men. Combine Russia's efforts with British intelligence and superior air force and the determined resistance movement in occupied countries and there was very little for the US to do beyond make weapons and supply man power for the final part of the war.

Now if you want to say we'd all be speaking Japanese, you may have a case.

You want to know where has more freedom than the US?

Answer: Estonia and 6 other countries. My link

Saying 'fact' at the end of something doesn't make it true, I'm afraid.
