Wookietim Posted April 22, 2011 #137 Share Posted April 22, 2011 Nervous regime breaks up protests and sends intelligence agents round to warn civil rights activists against taking action http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/feb/24/syria-crackdown-protest-arrests-beatings I heard about this on NPR this morning while driving into work. Truly disgusting... I know that there are multiple sides to the story, but those sides will not be reconciled with live ammunition. Kinda amazing that all of this started by one guy's actions in Tunisia though.

ships-cat Posted April 25, 2011 #150 Share Posted April 25, 2011 Three thoughts: 1) The head of Syria's Customs Department has denied this allegation, and states that the border is open. 2) If Syria DID close its border with Jordan, who is to say that this is to stop people leaving ? Could it also be to stop agitators and anti-Syrian militants from ENTERING ? 3) Why are the journalists relying on statements from 'un-named security officers' in Jordan ? Why don't they just drive up to the borders (at least on the Jordanian side) and see for themselves ? Cat smells a Rat. meow purr
