An Arab government butchering it's own while the rest of the Arab world essentially does nothing meaningful. If the western powers intervene a regional war almost certainly be caused by Assad. A civil war is the most likely outcome. And if the opposition appear on the verge of victory? Assad probably goes out by causing a regional war to erupt. What a mess and what a horrific time for the people of Syria.
