DancingCorpse Posted July 23, 2013 #551 Share Posted July 23, 2013 Yeah I think it was the same demon as the case or session that was ongoing through the film that the guy was listening to. There's a couple of films that seem to be zeroing in on filming in old asylums, I hope it doesn't become the new quick buck trend. One of the ones I saw was called Grave Encounters or something, it was pretty dumb and mostly relied on the ambience of the setting to make it interesting. I think Di Caprio would be very convincing if he took on a (REAL) horror film, I suppose the premise (and reward ratio) would have to be intriguing and able to make a lot of money to interest him. Shutter Island was more a thriller of course but he was certainly not in a comfort zone, one of the reasons I respect his acting skills.

So was the demon in session 9 still around while they where cleaning up the place, and it got into that guy that killed his wife?! LOL now I gotta go IMDB it and see Edited July 25, 2013 by R4z3rsPar4d0x
DancingCorpse Posted July 25, 2013 #553 Share Posted July 25, 2013 My understanding, though it's up for interpretation which is the mark of most great horrors, is that cause the guy was mentally vulnerable with all that had been going on in his life, that the demon thing took advantage as he soaked up more of the negative vibes of the place over the time period he was there. Though then comes the whole logic of 'what does a demon do when no one is around' lol.

Yeah and also If you listen to the women's other alters on the tapes, they all have slightly the same voice but then Simon comes in and he doesn't sound like any of them, he's a completely different voice. Yeah It is up for interpretation, but I think it was a demon, and yeah who knows what a demon does when no one is around. LoL I would guess a demon wouldn't hang around unless it was trapped there but that's a whole different thing.
DancingCorpse Posted July 29, 2013 #555 Share Posted July 29, 2013 (edited) Speaking of demons... I've watched The Exorcist twice already this month, always my fave, nothing comes close to that one for sheer creeping terror and unnerving developments. So many little nuances that you don't register on the first few watches. It's more a documentary and a work of realist art than a mere horror. So under rated! if that is even possible. All that many think of are the foul language, head spin and vomit, these are just cheap moments but sum of the parts, very natural in the process of the film's unfolding plot. I don't believe in heaven or hell or even possession yet it affects me profoundly. I believe that entities exist that can influence certain things, that is more tied to emotional energies but I believe that if possessed Regan was within a mile of me, I'd be moving ten miles the opposite direction! I've never seen such a terrifying horror creature and I have watched a LOT of horror. Something as simple as transforming a beautiful little girl into a massacred wreck is so effective. The make up is even ahead of its time now, so much horror relies on cheap gore and CGI. Horror has a lot to learn from the 70's/80's golden age. I can think of a handful of modern films that deliver the atmosphere and shocks of the great classics. That's pretty sad but horror is big bucks these days! scowl Posted July 30, 2013 #556 Share Posted July 30, 2013 I don't believe in heaven or hell or possession either, or ghosts or aliens or Bigfoot. I think the only thing I believe in is getting scared! All of these things can freak me out.
DancingCorpse Posted July 30, 2013 #557 Share Posted July 30, 2013 I think it all boils down to imagination, I actually feel at home in the middle of isolated forests and such and don't believe in witches that hide out in the woods and wait for three students to appear, but The Blair Witch Project royally scared the trash out of me! JamieSymptom Posted July 31, 2013 #558 Share Posted July 31, 2013 The most scariest, twisted, grotesque, sick and deranged movie I've never seen is A Serbian Film. They say 8mm is a Disney movie in comparison, and it seems that way. I would never defile my senses by watching this movie, I've heard enough of it retold to me so that I can dub it the most scariest and sick movie I've never seen. I've seen A Serbian Film. It's gross, shocking and thoroughly bad taste throughout - but not in the least bit scary. I still wouldn't recommend anyone watch it.

I still wouldn't recommend anyone watch it. I agree to the first, but scary has a broader definition with me, its not just chilling, jumpy shock-horror ala Exorcist. Scary also include the notion that sick twisted scenarios like in the movie probably exists in the real sub-world of bizarre violent porn and the use of trafficking/kidnapped victims. That is more real-life scary than Linda Blair twisting her head, although I think The Exorcist was pretty scary.
Crabby Kitten Posted July 31, 2013 #560 Share Posted July 31, 2013 I like chills and seeing scary monsters but the most scariest film I've watched ever has to be The Ring

Yeah, lots of crime and action films have scenarios that would be utterly terrifying in real life - but I don't really class them as 'scary movies' even if they do have incredible tension. For me the scariest films do center round the supernatural/fantastical side of things, even though I don't remotely believe any of it is possible. Weird eh, heh. Iv seen a Serbian Film to and the stuff in it was gross but I don't really see it as scary, I mean you wanna talk about scary, the scary thing is that man can do that type of stuff to another human that's scary

DancingCorpse Posted August 2, 2013 #568 Share Posted August 2, 2013 The Orphanage is perhaps the best spanish scary movie ever made. I saw this in the cinema and thought it was an outstanding film, perhaps not paticularly terrifying but enough good scares and a convincing plot to warm the cauldron. ImmortalSupernaturalAlien Posted August 2, 2013 #569 Share Posted August 2, 2013 Species 2.... the part where the women give birth in a very yucky and disturbing way (and makes my eyes and ears bleed), makes me think twice about getting preggo. DancingCorpse Posted August 4, 2013 #573 Share Posted August 4, 2013 I haven't seen Hellraiser yet, I know most of the plot since Clive Barker is one of my favourite authors, Pinhead is a legend tho and the content of the film is pretty bizarre. I must get around to it.

DancingCorpse Posted August 6, 2013 #575 Share Posted August 6, 2013 I saw the Evil Dead remake the other night (Blasphemy!!!) and it was really no improvement or worthwhile difference. They really should cease this ridiculous remake great films into mediocre rehashes with awful actors malarkey, it is so offensive. There is very rarely an improvement on the original.
