So much for that. Though Bashar has admited that the Syrian people are demanding reform, that there have been anti-government protests, and that not everyone in those protests are non-Syrians. Knight Of Shadows Posted March 30, 2011 Author #159 Share Posted March 30, 2011 no one ever said those protesters non-syrians we were talking about the assults and chaos makers you can read more back in the topic if you like
Corp Posted March 30, 2011 #160 Share Posted March 30, 2011 Well Knight you have been painting a very rosy picture of the Syrian government and how all the people love Bashar (who honestly sounds more like a king than a president) so the fact that Bashar has openly admitted that his government has failed the Syrian people and there's a widespread call for reform to be note worthy. Also Knight how to you feel about the state of emergency remaining in place when before Bashar promised to remove it?
Knight Of Shadows Posted March 30, 2011 Author #161 Share Posted March 30, 2011 goverment did not fail and who the hell said the emergency law is remaining ???! another media lie ??! lol .. not surprised beside man it's WE who decide wheather we love him or he failed or not ... not you .. it's syrians call and they have spoken through major marches .. you should be able to see few pages back
dekker87 Posted March 30, 2011 #162 Share Posted March 30, 2011 this speech by Assad along with the show of support for him by his supporters is now being reported by all the major news outlets globally...which gives the lie to the nonsense being posted by various members of UM that there is some western media conspiracy to tell lies and stir up trouble in syria..i hope they are man enough to admit to their errors... for my part i will accept i went a little over the top on assad...tho my criticisms of the syrian political 'system', the baath party and human rights remain but it does appear that Assad enjoys a degree of popular support...whether that support is misplaced and whether Assad has the character to stand up to his 'enemies' with the baath party remain to be seen....how things play out on friday after prayers is now even more interesting than before. a few links here with some interesting points.... sky news: My link bbc news: My link
Knight Of Shadows Posted March 30, 2011 Author #163 Share Posted March 30, 2011 (edited) not anymore ... ALL media now will strive to tell the truth to regain the creibility they lost through this crisis the rebuild the trust they lost by viewers by the bull they made to remove the fact they paid for eyewitness for report they paid for videos .. pics .. they paid to give false reports and call i show the media hippocrecy .. of previous posts videos and pics which wasn't shown by those media hippocrates where were these supporters before today ? why no supporters ever were viewed by media ? when major marches happened previously which i showed but were widely ignored just the messanger of truth President bashar made few light jokes about the media in his speech "saying that he double say not every thing is conpericy coz the media will try to comment me claiming i said it's all conspericy " president bashar made strong point on the media war was going on the situation and mentioned the " paid " eyewitnesses for them mentioned the paid false reports we bashar Edited March 30, 2011 by Knight Of Shadows

As did CBC, BBC, Chinese state news, and Al Jazeera. So if anyone is lying about the emergency law it seems to be Bashar. Oh and those news sites are reporting on the protests in support of Bashar. They've been mentioned in the last few days. They're also still reporting that police and soldiers have been shooting at anti-government protesters. Uncle Sam Posted March 30, 2011 #165 Share Posted March 30, 2011 I stated a long time ago, that Syia was next. Didn't listen and now look what is happening. As I watch the uprisings in the middle east, all I am seeing is dominos falling with dictators' names on each of them.

Purplos Posted March 30, 2011 #168 Share Posted March 30, 2011 there was uprises but as the media would like to show it !again .. if you wanna comment .. perhaps you should read the whole topic coz you asked if people have the right to have another leader of course they do ... but they want bashar .. haven't you seen the video or pics ? Ha. I've read the whole thread. I did say way back in the beginning that I have seen video of government supporters on the news I watch. I've also seen protesters of your government on the news. I admit I have seen more pictures of protesters that supporters though. Your above statements contradict each other. First you say there were uprisings, then you say people want Bashar... Well.. if there are uprisings, not everyone wants Bashar... doesn't that make sense? And now he is resigning... why? Because most of the people wanted him to stay in power? Very odd. Confusing almost to the point of being... well... unbelievable.

First you say there were uprisings, then you say people want Bashar... Well.. if there are uprisings, not everyone wants Bashar... doesn't that make sense? i think the nuance a lot of us have missed is that although the Syrian people are demanding change it doesn't appear that Assad is the main target a la Gaddafi or Mubarak... Corp Posted March 30, 2011 #174 Share Posted March 30, 2011 I have doubts about that since it would be huge news and none of the networks seem to be reporting this. Instead they're talking about how he's firm in his power and has a strong following. Don't see him just stepping down like that.
