School hit by raining worms

Still Waters

Recommended Posts

A PE class had to run for cover as it started raining worms.

Teacher David Crichton was leading a group of pupils playing football at Galashiels Academy when dozens of the invertebrates began plummeting from the sky. The 22 second-year boys had to abandon their lesson.

Mr Crichton said the children had justcompleted their warm-up when they began to hear "soft thudding" on the ground.

The class then looked to the cloudless sky - and saw worms falling on to them.

Mr Chrichton, 26, said he was baffled by the incident, with teachers later finding more worms spread across a tennis court almost 100 yards away.

Or how big the worms need to be to hear a thud on the ground? :o

Well, I guess it depends on the worm... For example, the Sandworms of Dune would probably make a pretty major noise when they hit the ground...

So the closest thing to a scientific explanation is what a PE teacher said and what the reporter said....... Nice.... lol

I really wanted a proper scientific explanation, I guess if we want to know me we have to look into ourselves.

With camera phones coming out the wazoo out there, you think somebody would have a picture of the worms.

You hear rain, don't you? It makes noise when it hits things. Why wouldn't worms?

Well, maybe the plane people were too afraid to carry snakes on the plane and opted for worms instead. :P

I originally read the UM news' title as "Women rain from the sky over Scotland" and was like "Wait, what?"
