The fact is that those who go to university on average earn more and hence pay more tax than those who do not. Education should be available to all and not just those who can afford it and it shouldn't put people in so much debt, it is not like those who go to university already come out with a large amount of debt.

If you like, I think calling the last Labour government left wing is wrong (I don't consider Stalin left wing either, just a power crazy totalitarian).

But I'm pretty sure Hitler killed plenty of Germans (and Austrians for that matter), the Croatian puppet state was happy to kill Croat's for being the wrong type of Croat. Guatemalan civil war? Lots killed by or disappeared by the right wing military government, Chile under Pinochet (happy supported by a British right wing government).

It demonstrated the very worst of what this country has to offer. Just tried to find the page but it looks like it's been taken down but the genral gist was comments like FK OF PAKIS GO BK WER U CUM FRM, and comments of that ilk. Every comment seemed to be signed off with "NS" which I'm assuming meant No Surrender. Now and again someone would pipe up with something like "Ok calm it down, wait for the Luton demo where we can stick it to them, you're coming across as racist which is what everyone knows we are but we have to pretend we're not for now."

The ones that made me laugh most were along the lines of "*** U AR GRANDADS DINT FIGHT WW2 SO MUSLIMZ CUD BILD MOSKS OVER HERE". I wanted so badly to reply that that's sort of exactly why they fought that war. Against pretty much you guys, you inarticulate pond life. Irony is not one of the strings to their bow, it would seem.

I spent an awful lot of time on that page, it was compulsive viewing. Absolute subhuman, moronic scum. So in repsonse to the comment earlier about the media portraying them as dribbling, knuckle-dragging retards or whatever it was, they're doing a fine job of that themselves.

Do you have any evidence to back up this claim?

if you do? shouldn't the question be why are the working class youth so poorly educated? how come we've let them down so badly, could the problem be the hand wringing left aren't interested in their fears and concerns? a report out today says working class white boys have the least amount of tax payers money spent on them and therefore have fallen behind every other group.

I was appalled to see the riot scenes, as were my (younger) mates from Uni- I was the oldest fart there often . I spent 3 years as a University Warden in Halls, and this is NOT representative of how most behave. It's always the way since forever, that a couple of rotten apples will spoil the public perception of the whole barrel. Amplified, as always, by the media.

Not condoning any actions, it was disgusting. But don't tar all with the same brush, please. We have great young people out there, and we shouldn't let the vile actions of a few tarnish the whole reputation of our younger generation who truly take an interest and wish to make their voices heard.

I would hazard a guess that it was because it was run by a bunch of football hooligans peddling racist claptrap and using a social networking site as a basis for organizing violent demonstrations, thinly veiled as "patriotism". Believe me I would like to provide a number of direct quotes from the closed-down page but I guess it broke Facebook's rules. Oh well.

On looking at Facebook's Ts&Cs, I can see at least three [at a glance] that this group have broken.

"6. You will not bully, intimidate, or harass any user.

7. You will not post content that is hateful, threatening, or pornographic, incites violence, or contains nudity or graphic or gratuitous violence.

10. You will not use Facebook to do anything unlawful, misleading, malicious, or discriminatory."

Says it all.

errmmmm...the point i was tryin to make which started the comments about the student riots off was that a minority of marchers on EDL demo's arent representative of the majority.

regardless i applaud any group that opposes fascism...and in this case those fighting oppression are the EDL in their fight against extreme islamist political thought.
