Lilly Posted May 30, 2011 #30 Share Posted May 30, 2011 Please do not post suggesting violence towards people of other cultures. 3a. Racism or hatred: We have zero tolerance for racism or hatred towards any specific race, religion, country, gender, individual or group. Granted, belief in this magical stuff is ignorant and irrational, but it's only through education that such will be replaced with more rational thinking. Soul Kitchen Posted May 30, 2011 #31 Share Posted May 30, 2011 I am surprised that people are still hunting for "witches" these days =/ You'd think that this kind of thing ended many years ago after the witch trials of Salem. =/ You do realize that this was in Africa, right? Salem's in America.
d e v i c e Posted May 30, 2011 #32 Share Posted May 30, 2011 Lack of proper education combined with superstition will lead to this sort of insanity. It's not just in South Africa, its happens in many places in the world including Western countries. The S.A government needs to really address this craziness - it's dangerous. I feel for the pastor and his family.

Pookie666 Posted May 30, 2011 #35 Share Posted May 30, 2011 To all who've read this before me... It's not a matter of being uneducated, uncivilised, or whatever... As I live in South Africa, I can tell you that these "incidents" usually involve the age group of 25 to 35, not the older people who would have the excuse of saying they didn't have an education under the "Apartheids" years. It's unfortunate that stories such as these get spread around the web, making the rest of the world think that all of Africa is a dark and scary place... South Africa is not some "other side of the tracks" country... Just like you, we aim to raise our kids to be good, kind and caring beings. Don't judge us for what you read in the news... Come and experience it for yourself...

Somewhere you are clearly quite ignorant of. You are obviously one of the lemmings who believes anything he reads or hears without doing any real research himself. Fail. :PsYKoTiC:BeHAvIoR: Posted May 30, 2011 #39 Share Posted May 30, 2011 This is the first, and most likely last, time I will see a news article that starts with the words "Magic Penis"... Just keep you magic to yourself then, or if you can't, then stay out of the rural townships... I know a couple of rich ladies in various cities that would pay to see a magic wang. UFO_Monster Posted June 4, 2011 #45 Share Posted June 4, 2011 I'm sorry, but you'd need to be mentally ill to be terrorized by A SNAIL. I can understand the "magic penis" (to a certain degree). But A SNAIL terrorizing their community? I wonder how they'd react to an iguana sleeping on a family's porch?

SHaYap Posted June 4, 2011 #48 Share Posted June 4, 2011 This is, after all, a demon haunted world (reference to Dr.Sagan). I think the key to changing this kind of thinking is education. I'm fairly sure that this group of people have embraced this 'magical thinking' for a very, very long time. Old ways may die hard, but in this case great effort needs to be made. I wouldn't put it pass the fact that the accused one with the magical anatomy was just a bit too popular with the ladies of the vicinity.

+and-then Posted February 17, 2012 #50 Share Posted February 17, 2012 Sad to say but in MANY areas of the world where superstitious and ignorant describe a large portion of the citizens, murder for imagined magical crimes is rampant. Not to say that our own brands of educated, enlightened religions are a whole lot better. (or worse depending on your outlook)It has not been that long since the Christians killed people for being witches. And we see the world struggle everyday because some Muslims believe thier book commands them to kill. Is it any different really. Qur'an 9:005: So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. Actually the Muslims have it right. Their book does teach/command them to kill
